Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP)
Hi Girls, I just got MATB1 form from my midwife.
Just wanted to check how I can claim maternity pay (I have been working for a reputed bank for 2 years)
Just need to submit MatB1 to my employer
Or
I need to claim it from the UK government website?
I have heard that till 6 months the company pays and then for the next 3 months the UK government pays.
Please can you help me with the process.

You have to hand in your matb1 form to your employer
Work will pay you and they claim back off the government
Most places unless it’s enhanced pay will pay 90% wages for 8 weeks and then half wages and half SMP I think and then it’s gets reduced further as you go into mat leave
I’ve opted for equal pay maternity so all the money from work and government is added together into one lump sum and then equally paid over how ever long you want off

Hey, you got to contact your head office. Different companies have different policies with regarding pay. I’m only getting 90% of my wages for 6 weeks then SMP for remaining of my maternity leave. I’m only taking 9 months as I won’t be paid for the rest
