Prenatal Billing Out Of Network?! Why!

I’m already so annoyed and irritated. I’m only in my 1st trimester, I’m supposed to take my NIPT test this week and logged in my health insurance portal to see if I can get an estimate of the cost. Why the hell is my providers office billing me for things out of network when I specifically selected them because of them being IN NETWORK with my insurance. I’m so frustrated because this is already unecessary $3K in lab bills and I’ve only been to the office ONCE! Like I don’t understand why some lab billing is being billed out of network. Literally $2,000 in out of pocket costs already and over $1000 in out of network cost deductible. How does this happen & how can I prevent it?!! I’m so pissed & glad I checked before I decide to go to my appt tomorrow!

They did the same thing with me for genetic testing. Told me it was only a $30 copay to be hit with 5,000 in out of network lab test. Guess who’s not getting a dime out of me cause fuck that.

I have been hearing a lot about this. I heard some shady stuff about natera being in network with my provider then was billed 4k for the genetic and gender blood work.

Call your insurance - ask them what code the provider was supposed to use. For those of you charged for natera, call your insurance!!!

In New York, you are covered if a doctor suppose to be in network but charges out of network. It’s called “Consumer Protection Under The Federal No Surprise Act”. I would contact your insurance company.
