Can I take up part time work?
I got made redundant in February, hmrc are going to take over paying me smp but its a slow process and I now risk going into debt...I was approached about a remote part time job the other day and was wondering if taking it would be ok or would it affect my smp? Starting to feel increasingly guilty that I can't do all the baby classes with my baby like I did with my first and its getting me down.

Yes you can. I'm starting a weekend job next week. I think you can work up to 16 hours and still claim smp, but it might be worth checking the maximum to be safe x

You can work a certain number hours if it self employed and it won’t affect SMP. However if you start working again with a new employer contract etc then its like returning to work and you will no longer get SMP. Thats how I understood it at least!
