Maternity leave

How soon before due date are you starting maternity leave? I have already arranged with my employer to start maternity leave at 38 weeks, but now I regret not saying ill start it a week or 2 earlier 🙈

My maternity leave is starting on my due date but I am taking 5 weeks annual leave beforehand. I’d ask if you could take 2 weeks annual leave before your maternity leave starts

Officially, my maternity leave is starting 10 days before my due date. But I have annual leave to take, so my last day will be as soon as I'm full term

I’m the same as you, I’ve said 38 weeks but I might take some annual leave a week or two before

Due 23rd and my last day is the 7th x

I don't have any annual leave to take 🙈 I work a 0hr contract (4days a week), so build up leave as I work. But I've already had 2 weeks off this year, so have none left 😕

Check your work’s policy as I’m sure they probably differ, but my work allow you to change your maternity leave start date so long as it’s more than 28 days away. X

same 😫 my last day at work is at 38+1! Struggling and I wfh. But equally not keen on changing it as Id rather have more mat leave when little one is here

ohh and to answer your question, I’m also starting maternity leave at 38 weeks but am taking 3 weeks of leave before this so finishing at 35. I work from home so probably didn’t need to do this, but I already feel exhausted and wanted to take some time for myself before baby arrives! X

I’m going on leave at 34 and half weeks but have 2 other children I want to be around for school runs and that before baby comes I had the other 2 at 37 weeks so pretty expecting this one to come around the same time after my midwife appointment today xx

I'm planning to finish work at 38 weeks

Thanks ladies! I decided to bring it forward by 1 week. 😃 I'm already struggling loads and I'm high risk 🙈 My 1st was born 15 days early, so paranoid this one will be early too and I'd love even a week to relax and prepare beforehand 😅 I didn't have to worry about maternity leave with my first as he was born in 2020, so I was put on furlough at 26 weeks then just started maternity the day he was born 🤷🏼‍♀️
