No nappy change at nursery

Hi my little boy who is 2.5 years old started nursery today, he did a session 9-3 and when I picked him up he still had the same amount of nappies in the bag he did when he went. His nappy wasn’t very wet when I changed him once we get home but now I’m worrying about tomorrow! It’s only his first day so I’m weary about rocking the apple cart straight away but should I say something? He went for a settling in session 9-2 a few weeks ago and they changed him so it could be a one off but just not sure how to approach it!! Advice welcomed! Thanks!

Hi are you sure when he went last time they didn’t take some nappies out his bag and put them in his box with his name on in the nappy changing area? We used to do this.. take the nappies out the bag and put them in box when they was used we would take more out. If not I would just ask say all his nappies was still in his bag when I took him home how often is he changed are there certain times so you know how many to put in? We was asked questions like that all the time xx

Do they not provide nappies at nursery? It’s all included where we are

If you’re not happy I would say something, you can just word it in a way where you’re asking more than demanding.
You are paying them afterall.
Or you could leave it another few days and see what happens. Maybe they didn’t change him as his nappy wasn’t very wet?

At ours each child takes in a big bag of nappies and wipes and they’ll use that, they forgot to mention to me so on his first day they just used someone else’s, that’s probably what’s happened!

Thanks everyone!
Yeah I’m just nervous to make a fuss before we’ve even got started! He’s only doing 2 days a week to start with so I will see what happens tomorrow and if it’s the same then maybe I’ll say something. They are all lovely there and they’ve just got an outstanding ofsted report so I’m hoping it’s just a one off or they used a different nappy, I should have paid more attention to the one I took off! Like I say it was barely wet so he didn’t come home sore or drenched but i still wouldn’t want him in the same nappy for that long! Xxx

I work in a nursery and if a child has nappies in their bag we’ll take them out but leave one in their bag just incase. Once the nappies are taken out we’ll pop them in a draw with the child’s name on to use during their stay at nursery x

I'd say if the nappy was dry then it had been changed at somepoint.

Our nursery tells us at pickup how many wet or soiled nappies he's had in the day?
Just ask, i would imagine they have used one from nursery.

Ask them what you need. My LG is changed every 2 hours, sooner if she’s had a poop

Avatar

My nursery provides nappies so maybe they used their own?

Avatar

Just ask what time he last had his nappy done so you know when to change it x

I put a mark on the nappy I sent him in today so I could see if it was the same one and I’ve picked him up and it’s still the same one on 🤦🏻‍♀️ it’s not soaking wet but it’s still wet.

Avatar

Yikes, from 9 - 3? I would definitely be asking how often they change nappies.
Do you supply them? Have they asked you to take some in?

Avatar

Yeah they are in his bag along with his lunch and change of clothes, I thought maybe they used their own and that’s why I had the same amount but it’s definitely the same one x

Avatar

You should speak to them about it

Avatar

Definitely speak to them I’d also worry that his nappy is not that wet if it’s not been changed for all that time. Are they not giving him enough to drink

Avatar

Yeah this is the route I’m going to go down to start the conversation I’ll say can you encourage him to drink more as I’ve noticed his nappy’s aren’t very wet and sometimes he forgets to drink his water and then it should open the conversation

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

Baby with chronic congestion

Hi everyone! My 1 year has been a congested baby since birth almost. She breathes through her mouth so often that it wakes her up multiple times at night and she cries and screams and then struggles to go back to sleep. She wakes up every 1-3 hours and sometimes can’t go back to sleep for 2-3 hours!!! Piriton is the only thing that seems to help her sleep mostly through the night but I can’t keep giving her that!!
Does anyone have tips as to have I can do or give her? Has anyone experienced? I have no idea when I’ll get an ENT appointment and I have no idea what he can give a 13 mo :( we are desperate for sleep so any tips are welcome!! We have tried steam inhalation, saline drops, vapour rubs and everything off the counter basically!
