Sweep experiences

I’m 39 weeks and will be having a sweep this week, would you say it’s worth it and what was your experience?

I had one last week at 39+1, she said i was 1cm dilated, but my cervix was still a bit high and 1-2cm long. Other than more intense cramps for the next day it didnt do anything. I havent lost my plug etc. Ive had back cramps and regular braxton hicks for about 3 weeks now and they are just stronger but nothing sticking around or leading to anything, not sure if the sweep has done it or just how my body is going towards labour anyway. Im due tomorrow and have another appointment thursday so she might offer another sweep then. Ill probably accept, but im just curious to know if ive dilated anymore😂 ive heard itll only work if your body/baby is ready x

I had one today apparently I’m 2cm but still long cervix she could feel baby’s head but no spotting after or mucus plug will go back on Friday for another one if nothing happens and then a balloon induction on Monday, it is abit uncomfortable and after I’ve been having some tightenings in stomach nothing overwhelming but just breathe through it and you will be fine

I had one last Thursday on my due date. I was 2cm dilated and cervix was soft and favourable! It was fine, kind of like a smear test! I lost my mucus plug over 2 days, but nothing else. Had another sweep this morning at 40+5. This one was more painful, not sure if it was because midwife was new and less experienced, but haven’t had any signs of labour yet. They say within 48 hours if it works so fingers crossed 🤞🏼 I would definitely recommend trying it to see! I can’t say I agree with the statistics, knowing many many friends, family and ladies on here who it hasn’t worked for but it must work for some!! Xx
