Toilet training

My 3 year old woke up this morning and said I need a wee. When I went to check he just got back in bed. He wanted his potty not the toilet and my husband had shut the stair gate. I opened the stair gate he's gone downstairs had a massive wee and I've looked and his overnight pull up is dry. I'm shocked feel like it's a fluke but celebrated it all the same. Any advise on helping use the toilet instead of potty? At my parents he will only use the toilet but at home will only use the potty. Also how do we get over the fear of hand dryers in public toilets he refused to wee last night while we were out and held it for a while and the only thing I can think of is the hand dryer as he doesn't like some noises.

We had this until recently. We genuinely forgot to take the travel potty out with us a couple of times and he was fine using a toilet so we then started 'forgetting' and then eventually put the potty's away at home. He has little steps so he can get to the loo and the sink by himself. We don't use any of the seat inserts but only because our son won't use them. They're actually a good idea to stop them falling in 🙈 My almost four year old is still scared of hand driers. We just don't use them.

Thank you he only has one potty but we have the steps and seats in the two bathrooms he would mainly use I'll try it thanks x

My little boy hates hand dryers too and will refuse to go into public toilets and restaurant toilets… I just reassure him I will not put them on and we will be quick quick to wee and wash our hands, I just keep reassuring him while we are in there too and it seems to work! X
