Post birth intercourse - painful for man?

Anyone had any experience of this? All the information I can find is on pain for the women after birth however my partner is the one saying it’s painful. Feels completely normal and non painful for me. Baby is 8 mo however only done the deed twice both times this hurt my partner, confused at that’s causing this? I had a very uncomplicated vaginal birth in terms of trauma and healing, had a couple of minor tears which did require stitching but nothing perineum ect so wouldn’t have thought it was that. I’ve used a menstrual cup since so have kinda felt and everything to my knowledge feels the same. Baffled by what’s causing it and completely lost all trust in the NHS and GPs since having LO so don’t hold much confidence they’d be any help with my query.
