Universal credit

I’m confused as I’m on universal credit (had 2 kids back to back so quit my job), I was obviously getting the support for my 1st who’s 14 month but after my 2nd was born I added him to the claim but still only got money for 1 child. Is it normal for it to take a while to add another child on or should I get in contact with them? I’ve worked all my days so I’m not used to this whole benefits malarkey😅

What's your assessment period? Does it say you get support for one child? When did you add your second child?

@Dragon mummy so it’s between the 11th to the 10th of the next month. I just got paid on Wednesday (17th every month) and it said 1 child, I had my 2nd on 10th March & updated it on the 15th of March

Have you got a note in your journal saying: children and other people living with you- declare change completed? We're you asked for a proof such as birth certificate? I had to attend meeting in job centre, after that, my son was added

@Dragon mummy yeah I have the note in my journal but haven’t had an appointment, I remember having to go to one with my 1st

Without them accepting birth certificates, they won't put your baby on your claim. Leave a note or best call them. And most definitely, you will have to chase them. My assessment period is 30-29 i gave them birth certificate on 25th and still had my baby added to payment for this a p.
