I am 7 months PP and I had an elective section bcos my baby was breech. I am just curious if I was to have another baby how likely would it be that I ended up having another section? Has anyone had this experience? (Not having another one for a few years but just wanted to know)

Would also like to know. I also had an elective because breech baby. I’m happy to have another section if needed but would be nice to try a vaginal delivery

Talk to your Dr and hospital where you want to deliver. It's called a VBAC, some places have strict guidelines on if they will let you or not. Some hospitals won't do it at all. BUT it's possible, so find a place that does it if that what you want!

if my next baby is breech I’ll be happy having a section again. I just wanted to know whether or not I’m more likely to end up with another breech baby and c section bcos it’s happened the first time

Talk to a dr and they should be able to give you a % chance. I’m about to have my second and they’ve said I have about a 70% chance of a successful vaginal delivery. You should have a good chance due to your section being because of the baby and not because of you

thank you! This is really helpful x

Same as Emily, my first baby was breech (didn’t find out until I was in active labour) so I had a c section, I had my 2nd 2 years later and I had the option to choose Vbac but decided because of the risks to go for an elective c section but 2nd baby was heads down the whole time x

sorry this may sound really stupid but is there more risks involved of trying for a vaginal birth after a c section? Obviously I know it’s different based on the situation but with it only being down to him being breech is it still as risky? X

I can’t remember the exact statistics that my doctor gave me now but basically there’s a chance your scar could tear open which is a risk to both mum and baby, they said if that was to happen baby would be at risk of brain damage or death and that was enough to put me off! I just felt it was best to go with the lower risk option and I’d choose to do it again. As I had already had a c section I knew what to expect, I was so much more calm (it also helped having it booked in the diary so I could sort childcare for my son). It’s totally your choice, your doctor will tell you all the risks and leave it to you to decide.
You don’t have to decide right away, I told the doctors that I wanted a scan close to my due date to check if baby was breech, if he was I said I would 100% have a c section but if he wasn’t (which he wasn’t) I would decide so I left it right up until the last minute to book the elective and all went smoothly 😊 x

bloody hell I didn’t know any of this! Thank you this is really helpful! I think I was already steering towards having another section anyway but that’s made the decision for me with that information so scary x
