I’ve just started doing perineal massage tonight (a bit too late at 36 weeks!) as I bought the My Expert Midwife peri prep your bits. My god it was hard to do it on my own! Anyone else done this to prep for childbirth? How did you get on 😂

I bought the perimom tool and did it once, was supposed to do it last night but didn’t. I hate hate hate it.

I also bought the perimom & have only done it twice and I’m 40+2 , second time I used it I tore a little 😳 so I’m not holding out hope 🤣

I’m 37 weeks and started at about 35 weeks. My husband does it for me - there’s no way I’d be able to do it myself. I’ve set a reoccurring invite in our calendars titled ‘stretch the exit’ because let’s face it, it doesn’t feel like a nice massage 😂.

36 weeks isn’t too late. There’s no science behind doing it before that ☺️

36 weeks is not too late, it's exclusively recommended for 36 weeks and over. Please dont obsess too much over it. I did it and got a 3a tear. My friend didn't and just had grazes. Definitely give it a go and do what you can with your partner!!

I never did it, I didn’t tear either. The only things I did to ‘prepare’ for labour was raspberry leaf tea but I took them as tablets instead of drinking the tea, collected colostrum, and used clary sage in the bath. Maybe I just got lucky

oh gosh 😖

I’ve not got a partner to help and if I’d have known I needed to I’d not have spent the money on this 😂 I cannot do the thumb technique but I’ve watched a video and you can do it with your index fingers instead (1 at a time) and I think I’ll do it like this as it’s soo much easier. But don’t think I’m gonna do it every night as worried I’ll hurt myself haha. Gonna do every other night x

oh that’s good as I read you should do it from 35!

My midwife said to do it from 37 weeks but I’ve only just started (38 weeks)
I hate it and it’s so difficult alone (I don’t want my partner to do it)- I’m hoping that just the oils and some effort may help 🙄

just wondering how frequently you do the massage? Nhs website says doing everyday would be beneficial. But everyday sounds like too much tbh🙈

Got the epi-no and it was also so uncomfortable 🥴 anyone else tried it ?
