Has anyone had it before in a previous pregnancy? I got it right at the end of my first pregnancy like the last few weeks so it had no real impact.
But do you have to have injections if you get it?

I had it with my first, diagnosed around 28 weeks. Pretty sure I have it again and have the test in a couple of weeks when I'll be 15 weeks. If you do have it you'll have to test your blood sugars regularly (at least 4 times a day). If you can keep your readings in range by diet you won't need medication. I couldn't so ended up on Metformin pills and having to inject insulin. It was scary at first but tbh the insulin was easier than the normal blood sugar readings. It's a much finer needle. I recommend the gduk website and Facebook group, much better info than you get from the NHS.
what are your symptoms? This time I have blurred vision and an optician said it could be due to blood sugars so I’m now scared I’ve got it.
I don’t really understand it, do you get it basically if you’re overweight and you’ve eaten too many sweet things?
To get on top of it do you just stop eating sugary stuff?
Oh god that all sounds horrendous. Is it one of those jab things on your finger to do the sugar reading… sounds like it’s all a pain in the ass

I'm the same. I only had it in third trimester and managed it with diet&exercise i had to test my blood before & after each meal.
I had a test last week for this pregnancy (i'm 15weeks now) and waiting for results. Really hoping i dont have it again or this early because the pricking my finger every single day was a pain and i only did it for the last couple months of pregnancy. Can't stand the thought of having to do the rest of the pregnancy x
is the test the glucose one where you have to fast and they do a blood test? I have this in June. So you didn’t have to do injections in the end?

Yeah it's that test. I had my bloods done & then had the glucose drink (absolutely vile) i struggled to keep it down lol. And then sat for 2 hours and had my bloods done again.
I havent heard back yet. I had it last tuesday. They said someone would be in touch but havent had anything i'm just waiting now. Hoping i dont have it and the results will come online on the app that has all my appointments and info on x
not looking forward to this! Already if I don’t eat I start to feel sick. So don’t know how well I’m going to do with fasting. Oh god what does that taste like

I haven't got symptoms, I just had testing kit supplies left and started testing as soon as I knew I was pregnant around 5 weeks. Was getting high readings but basically they didn't want to know and said they'll test me after the 12 week scan. I didn't mind the drink at the test really just a really sweet drink.

Also no, even super healthy people get it. Having a high BMI is a risk factor but it is hormonal. There are a lot of people in the gduk group who are healthy BMI ate a healthy diet etc but still got gestational diabetes. No it basically means you are carb sensitive, people's tolerance varies but I super recommend the gduk website & Facebook page, it has info on all of this and will probably answer any questions you have. Yes exactly, annoying testing machine to check blood. But, in the end it's for the baby's health as unmanaged gd can be very dangerous.

My midwife didnt understand why i got it because i'm petite. I'm healthy & fit and i have no family history or diabetes. She told me it is usually plus size women and she said seemed odd we were doing it??? I dont really know what she meant but i just wanted it done tbh.
I just think if they didnt catch it il third trimester last time. Why test at 14weeks? But id rather know.
The drink is sweet its the after taste that made me heave. Vile. & the fact id had my bloods done (which makes me feel queezy anyway) and the fasting. I think the combination just made it harder to swallow that drink. It didnt make me feel good atall. But just try not think about it and try down it. Dont have breaks like i did & you will be fine.
But i just want to know if i have GD so i can put in place diet & exercise again to maintain it. I know i can do it xx
