My husband was saying that our 8 week old while contact napping seemed asleep, but then opened her eyes and looked at him when he was looking away and the minute he looked back at her she closed her eyes again lol. She's done it to me too (not when I look away or anything) but I feel pretty confident she's actually sleeping because of her breathing patterns and REM facial expressions. Have you experienced this or wondered about this?

She is just making sure she is not alone 🤣🤣babies don't pretend anything. They are as honest as it gets.

Also it's called rem sleeping, they can even make sounds ,open their eyes , move alot cry , but they will be still sleeping

Adults do this too. We just are so much better at falling right back asleep. Everyone wakes up multiple times a night. Just before they get their adult sleep cycles it can be more often. Active sleep is WEIRD

My son definitely used to do this it cracked us up when he did it's them checking you're still there

Yeah, she's briefly waking to check the situation. I call it a periscope up.

That’s active sleeping
