No poo for 24h+

My 2 week old is EBF and is feeding well, gaining weight and having plenty of wet nappies but has not had a poo since Saturday. Is this normal? Should I be worried?

It’s normal. My baby can sometimes go 24hrs without pooing and then will poo the next day x

It's normal for breastfeed babies. My doctor told me the baby's body absorbs all the nutrients from moms milk, so sometimes it's no waste.

I was told it was normal. Infact it isnt! It is normal for a breastfed baby to poo after every feed until they are atleast two months old
My daughter is nearly 2 still breastfed and still goes atleast once a day.
My daughter suffered because i was told it was normal

At 2 weeks I can't remember if normal but you might still be covered by midwife if you have concerns or maybe give 111 a call to be sure if you're concerned. I know from about 6 weeks it can become less frequent. My son only pooped about once a week from around that time until he started weaning but it can vary for all. My aunt ebf her first went roughly every 5 days and her 2nd was most days. Main thing to watch is if they're still feeding well and poop is still right colour/consistency when they go and keep an eye for any signs of discomfort or pain

Before 6 weeks this is generally not considered normal. Are you able to get to a local breastfeeding support group?

Totally normal when we got home from the hospital my daughter didn’t poop for 4 maybe 5(?) days. (She also got all of the tar stuff out when at the hospital). Warm baths really helped, I did maybe 2-3 and I used the windi at the beginning of the day to really get things movin

Babies under 6 weeks should poo every day. There's not necessarily anything wrong but you definitely need to let your GP or midwife know x

I was told it’s normal as long as number of wet nappies is fine 😁 With EBF, there’s not a huge amount of waste and sometimes they’ll just go a few days without a poo :) I’d only ask a GP if you’re seeing signs of discomfort or it gets to 5+ days x

Avatar

It’s also definitely worth checking your health visitor is ok with it though - because they sometimes prefer to be on the safe side :)

It's 'normal' in those early weeks but still worth letting your midwife know. In the UK GPs/hospital generally won't pay attention until they've not gone for 7+ days. My baby was like this and in clear discomfort, but it's because their digestive systems aren't developed yet and there's not really much we can do but wait it out (sadly 😭)

And yeah the no waste with BM thing is a myth. He's 5 months now, EBF and poops non stop 😂

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?

Combi feeding advice

Has anyone gone from EBF to combi feeding? Currently do one bottle of EBM per night and they one half formula half breast milk mixed in the day. The other times she still feeds on me. Ideally I want to feed all day via bottle and all night with breast. She’s 7 weeks and takes a bottle well, how long should I leave it before adding another bottle to her daily routine?

Self settling

Any tips or advice of how to teach 6.5month old to self settle? I’m up multiple times in the night to cuddle her back to sleep and put the dummy in. I understand she will wake up and want a cuddle etc but any tips on self settling would be appreciated 🥰
