Scare

My baby is 3 months Friday and early this morning she was laying on me and I couldn’t feel her breath, I called her name (tho only 3 months she is VERY responsive and aware of things around her) and she didn’t open her eyes and I lifted her up and placed her in from of me and tried to get her up… it took a minute before she “woke up” and acknowledged me… I don’t know if maybe I’m just being paranoid and not registering her soft breaths or if maybe she did stop breathing… nothing was blocking her nose or mouth… has anyone had the same experience? Any advice? I am ganna talk to talk about it also .

Periodic breathing perhaps? Have you noticed anything a bit off with her breathing beforehand? Or ever? Like maybe taking too many breaths per minute? My son had Periodic breathing and it was so scary when he had bad episodes. I'm so glad he has grown out of it now!

@Leanne I mean sometimes she breaths really heavy but nothing crazy. I have seen this happen once before with her but I thought it was in my head… it about gave me a heart attack tho!

Ya sometimes when my bbay sleeps his breathimg are so shallos u cant even hesr them and its hard to tell if hes breathung or not i think its just a baby thing it does get scary i knoe

@Jennifer Ayliffe ooof so it is normal… makes me feel less crazy, but it was very scary! I was crying thinking my baby was dead… not fun!

I had this scare a few times. Once when he was in his car seat, and he was maybe 5 months old, maybe a bit younger. He was dead asleep, and I couldn’t see he was breathing. I immediately panicked! I didn’t want to wake him up, so I just listened super close, and put my hand on his chest. I felt his breathing and was so relieved. I was told a few times by healthcare professionals that it’s normal for babies to hold their breath sometimes, and that is why they take longer when checking a babies heartbeat. I would still bring it up to your paediatrician tho

@Erica well they need to not hold their breath lol

It’s horrible but try gently blowing on them to get them to breathe. My LB was in NICU and used to hold his breath so much it would set off his monitors.

@L 💜 Gez! I’m sorry hunny that’s terrifying
