My LG has been on 2 naps now for about a month but she still won’t link her sleep cycles during naps…
She’ll fall asleep feeding and then go down in her cot but then will wake after 20-40 minutes and will have to be rocked back to sleep and then it can take several times to try and transfer her back into her cot.
I don’t know how to move away from her relying on me to rock her back to sleep during every nap?
Anyone overcome something similar and found anything that worked?
Thanks!

Not found anything to help but just want to give reassurance it gets better, my 8 month old was contact napping only until 6 months, then only doing 30 mins on the dot each month and then for the last week somethings just clicked and he’s doing 90-120 min naps x

I think I read somewhere that baby has to learn how to settle to sleep on their own to link the cycles. Otherwise they wake after one cycle if the conditions in which they fell asleep aren’t the same (so they would need to be held/fed back to sleep). When mine learned to self soothe her naps went from 40 minutes to 2 hours long and all in her cot without rocking/feeding to sleep etc.

how did you teach self soothing please? X

we did some sleep training when she was about 6 months old. It went a bit out the window when she learned to stand as that’s all she wanted to do in her cot but we did it again recently and she’s self soothing again

what kind of sleep training did you try? We're really struggling atm

we bought a course from just chill baby sleep and followed the routine they provided. It was kind of like the Ferber method where you go in after a certain amount of time (that you choose) to settle them before leaving again. If they’re crying you go back in again and continue doing that until they’re asleep. The first time it took 45 minutes for her to fall asleep and she pretty much self settled 90% of the time after that. The second time took about an hour and she’s back to self settling since then (it’s been about a week). It is hard because baby is likely to cry as it’s a change in their routine but it was so worth it for us.
