Potty Training

Hey ladies! I’m looking for some potty training success stories. Need some inspiration. Wondering if there is a light at the end of the tunnel. What worked for your toddler to learn potty training? Many thanks!

I always start with them wearing a pull-up and setting my stove timer for every 15 min and take them to the potty… then when they seem they can’t go that often move it to ever 20 min… then 30 min… by that time they usually are telling me when they have to potty. Another things that helped (may be gross to some) but I put their potty chair out where it’s visible and easy access for them where they don’t have to turn on a light. I now have 3 fully potty trained boys and they were all trained by 2… I hope this helps!! 🤗🤗

How old is your toddler? Mine is turning 3 in July and just started telling me when she has to go! Has an accident probably only 2-3x a week now so super rare. Took some time though for her to express to me when she had to go. Before that I hounded her hourly to go. Now she does it willingly. Sometimes when we are outside playing I need to remind her

The potty training program from Big Little Feelings worked super well for us. It’s probably similar to other “3 day” programs, but emphasizes they aren’t completely accident-free, but well on their way to success. Essentially, a few days of being naked and staying home can help them connect the feeling of needing to poop or pee with letting it all out in the potty. Use pull ups only for nap times and the evening, but call them sleep underwear to note the transition. Once pants are reintroduced (they are consistently making it to the potty), use loose pants and avoid introducing underwear for awhile. Pressuring them will backfire; never force them and calmly remind them of where the potty is and that you can help them get there if needed vs constantly asking if they need to go (they will say no).

Read or listen to the audible ”Oh Shit! Potty Training!” I highly recommend!! It’s a quick read/listen, and it has worked wonders for us.

I did the 3 day potty training and within a week he had it down. The first 2 days were very frustrating but if you have 3 days you can dedicate to fully focusing on potty training which means skipping pull ups (use only during naps and sleeping at night) wearing underwear or no underwear, not working, staying in an area the whole day near a bathroom (we did living room) you can do it. There will be accidents but he has the gist down

Mines been potty trained for well over a year now. Only sleeps with a diaper and goes on his own without promt. Potty in the room they play in most, naked method for as long as it takes. I also think it depends on the kid so don't beat yourself up

I read the book “Oh Crap! Potty Training”. Started with no bottoms or underwear on. When she went to pee I would sprint with her to the potty. Took about 3 days of this and then she was trained. Still has occasional accidents and wears a pull up at night because she’s a heavy sleeper.
