Csection sickness

I have a fear of being sick so just wondering how likely I am to be sick either during or after csection?

They will say you’ll either shiver, nausea, throw up but for me I had all the symptoms during procedure 🤒 I had a fever afterwards but recovered quickly.

I didn't have anything other then the shakes during my section. My anesthesiologist told me to shake though. She said to let your body do what it's doing. So I let myself shake and I was fine after they got her out. It's like it was a switch. The second they got her out and brought her to me I just stopped.

They do give you antisickness meds and I wasn’t sick during but I was after but I did have bad sickness throughout my whole pregnancy so and I’m not gonna lie it was horrible, I felt like I was going to pop my scar open but then they gave me some more antisickness meds through my cannula in my hand rather than tablets and that did the drink and I wasn’t sick again

I had anti sickness during the op and still vomited constantly so they gave me two more stronger doses and it took it away immediately and then no nausea afterwards

I had no vomiting. You can tell your anesthesiologist if you’re feeling nauseous and mine gave me zofran and waved a couple alcohol swabs in front of my nose and that helped.

I didn't feel sick. They can give you something for that if you do. I was just shaking. The anaesthetist will come round to see you in the ward beforehand for a chat so just let them know. It was a strange but pain-free experience. The worst bit was the cannula but depends who does it! It's a bit degrading to be unconvered and lying there naked and unable to move but childbirth isn't very dignified whichever way you do it! The main thing is my baby was born perfectly healthy without any health concerns.

I was given anti nausea medication, I had a spinal and didn't have an epidural so I don't know if that made a difference. I was in total zen mode because mine was an emergency c section and it was the only way I stayed calm was to shut off all emotions so I don't remember shaking or anything. I just sang songs to myself

I didn’t feel nauseous and I wasn’t sick. I also didn’t get the shakes despite the fact I have a tremor, I thought I would really badly! Mine was an emergency and I was so worn out after labour I just went with it and all was fine x

I was quite sick after my section, they eventually gave me anti sickness meds but I don’t think it fully helped it, but it went away after a day

If there’s ever a chance I will be sick, I will be sick but my c section i was absolutely fine. I did have the shakes but that was it. Couldn’t have gone better. The recovery was great too. Not all stories are bad 😌x

I threw up during my first emergency C section (in surgery) due to the meds they gave me to shrink my uterus as i was fully dilated prior to it, im told its a very high dose that needs to be given. BUT my second section was Elective and they still give the medication for the uterus but it is a weaker dose and they also coupled it with an anti-sickness med as well so happy to say no sickness or nausea during that one. Thankfully i had nothing after either surgery as i had also refused Oramorph and just coped on paracetamol/ibruprofen. If you are worried then ask to have anti-sickness added in.

I didn't have nausea or sickness in either of my c-sections. I definitely got the shakes though in both. My planned section was much better than my first unplanned section. I felt a bit woozy during my 2nd section because I was looking around a lot but I told the anaesthetist and he did his magic thing with the meds and I felt okay shortly after. My first C-section was under an epidural due to being in labour, I was fully dilated and not sure if they gave me meds to shrink anything. I felt queasy in the night (section happened late evening) but I think its because I was so hungry. Second time around was a spinal and I had food straight after. Felt great!

I had shakes & felt nauseous after surgery but was hungry because they make sure you don’t eat hours before surgery. Was fine afterwards

I was under general anesthesia for mine, but I didn’t get sick after. I just had a lot of the shakes on and off. Wishing you the best 🩵

I vomited at thr beginning so the surgery but was pumped with anti sickness then stopped vomiting but still felt nauseous. Just ask for a bowl before hand just in case

No sickness here for my section but they did inject me with an anti sickness before hand to prevent it happening anyways ❤️
