Do I have to cook and eat again?!

Children’s father is a carnivore and I’m a vegetarian, toddler is picky and hardly wants to eat anything and the twins are just starting out with purées. Making between 1 and 4 different dishes at least once a day and 1-2 meals a other two times a day is exhausting and frustrating. Some days I snack all day and still crave a hot meal. Other days I don’t eat until 8 pm because nothing sounds good or what I want takes too much energy to make for myself. I used to love food but I’m over it right now. Anyone feeling food decision making fatigue and cooking frustrations?

I feel this. Same situation minus twins lol lately I’ve been buying frozen stuff for my husband and letting him do his own thing, rather than making myself exhausted with cooking constantly. I used to always make separate meals but I’ve been making casseroles that are super cheap and simple too. So chicken and rice for them and veg and rice for me in the oven, set a timer and just forget it ✅ it’s easier just prepping two dishes rather than using 5-6 pots and pans a day and you’ll have leftovers. Nachos and pasta are also easy to do when you’re exhausted, my husband’s been eating vegan beef crumbles for years because I didn’t tell him for a long time 😂 he never knew! And the picky toddler thing… I always keep lunch meats, hummus and veg, and cheese on hand for nights when he just won’t eat! Good luck! I know it’s hard!

I meal prep... and we try to have at least 1 thing we all eat. A great opportunity to introduce fruits veggies and nuts! Of course depending on the age and allergies etc. Also having healthy snack options help during the day and water but definitely have full meals you really need it. A full meal helps ypur brain to have a better day

Oh Lord, how'd you end up with a carnivore? Does he eat zero carb dairy too or just meat and eggs? I eat a lot of whole grain toast, eggs, cottage cheese and fruit when I don't want the meat main.

@Kate ❤️😂 love the beef crumbles story!! Those sound like some good meal ideas for us adults. My toddler used to eat EVERYTHING but now it’s only a couple of things. I make lots of things just hoping he’ll try it. Won’t eat most meat and most veggies and most fruits and no cheeses.

Oh lord! Have you tried sneaking veggies into his favorites? Mine used to pick out the veggies in his pasta until I basically blended them so small he didn’t know! Best of luck to you!

@Kate gonna have to do this!! Thank you!! Yes. He pulls out tiny pieces of herbs and then rejects the food.

@Marley oh this is a great reminder! I used to make myself breakfast burritos for the freezer and soaked oatmeal in the fridge. Those days that I had that were more pleasant. My boy used to eat everything we gave him. Now he only eats broccoli and apples and bananas and peanut Butter toast as far as healthy foods go. Has a texture thing so he won’t try to eat nuts. I used to live on them in the early pp months.

@Katherine we were in culinary classes together and our social circles met for beer and play pool that last semester after knowing each other for almost two years as casual aquatints. He eats everything but prefers to eat 80% or more meat in his diet. He’ll eat what I make but doesn’t feel satisfied with out the animal protein most days. That toast plate sounds pretty tasty! Thanks!!

I feel this 100%. I’m kinda in the same boat. I’m plant based, partner is carnivore and my toddler doesn’t always like the same foods day to day. My baby is going to start solids next month. I barely ate today and I’m EBF. It’s all exhausting. I don’t even have my favorite cereal to eat rn that’s quick. Everything else takes too long 😫 sincerely, hungry mama

@Paisley what does plant based entail? Oh man when I was trying to EBF bags of nuts and dried fruit and smoothie mix from Costco and homemade protein balls were my friends!! I’ve been craving a homemade granola for months now. Takes awhile to cook but doesn’t go bad fast.

@Bethany I was vegan but I just added eggs back into my diet. So plant based it’s mostly a plant based diet with animal products incorporated. I can no longer call myself vegan

@Bethany thank you for the recommendations! I’ll have to get some of these items next store run
