Going back full time

Is anyone going back to work full time? I’m not going back until November but I wanted to go back 4 or 3 days. However I don’t think work are going to approve it so I’ll be back 5 days a week. I’m dreading being away from my baby for that length of time. Is anyone else feeling the same? It’s giving me anxiety and it’s still months and months away

You could submit your request now to reduce hours. It would give your employer more time to sort things out and give you peace of mind whichever way it goes. Plus, it would give you time to sort things out depending on their response. Someone told me to not rush to earn the money now to retire asap because kids are gone when we retire, take the time now and retire later. A bit simplistic and of course not working for everyone quite like that but it's certainly given me the kick up the bottom to do whatever it takes to have time with my LG.

Check what your contact says on returning to work. You're protected for a year after having your baby. As long as it fits business needs you can request to go back PT. You can explore if they say no to FT, then can you increase hours over 4 days. But I'd recommend calling HR privately. They have to abide with ethical standards and speak to you confidently ask the questions to HR and see what they say and citizens advice can help too. Id maybe recommend if you are going to have issues sign up to ACAS. They can support you with issues but only after you have signed up with them. So if they say no, we'll get someone to fight your corner. I said I'm going back September. I'm not, I'm going back January. I have no childcare support and I don't want to think about it. I want to enjoy her. November is ages away, try not stress about it now. It's not even the summer yet! I know it goes quick but not that quick..

I will be going back full time in January. I’m not going to lie but it is hard to leave them when you go back to work.

Yes I’m going back full time in July and have been really struggling with it as the weeks are flying by so quick. They can’t reasonably deny a flexible working request though so be interesting to see what their reason would be to reject it.

I’m having to go back on 3rd June full time and he’s only gonna be 4 months 😢 Went back after 8 months full time with my first and it was fine but dreading it this time around with him being so young.
