How can I make nappy change more calmed at night?

This has been an ongoing issue 😢 Bub is not fond of being changed at night. Even if i already have wipes warmer, he still wails so loud everytime. I dont think its the cold temperature. I sing a song as always. Daytime is fine but nighttime is a nightmare. Any advice??

Personally, I only change my baby’s diaper at night if she poops. Her nighttime diaper is sized up (if she is snug in her usual diapers) and metanium on the booty. She can wear that anywhere from 10-14hrs and she’s fine. If she poops in the middle of the night, we will change her into a new nighttime diaper. However, she usually poops early in the morning (5-6am). She sleeps a lot better if we don’t do middle of the night diaper changes!

I also don’t change through the night. I Put him a new nappy on just before bed and only change when he wakes up for the day. X

What about using warm water and cotton pads instead? Worth a try

I wouldn’t bother changing while sleeping as long as he doesn’t poop

I only change baby at night if he’s poo’d but hes not poo’d at night since he was a couple months old x

@Kassia i find his nappy very full after 6 hrs. I only change when he wants milk so prior giving him feeds. About 2x a night. 😫😩

@Natalie no choice as his nappy gets full after 5-6 hrs 😩 but i only change prior feed should he want it 😵‍💫

@Frayere i dont think he feels cold. The wipes i use is warm enough.

@Jen what kind of diapers are you using? Some are better than others with absorption! Also, if you size up, then it will be able to absorb more as well! He probably gets annoyed that you’re disturbing his sleep, when all he wants to do is feed. I know my baby gets annoyed if I change her in the middle of the night 🤣

My little boy was the same so I turned it into a little bit of a game. I count his poppers as I undo them, count to 3 and lift his legs to get the vest and grow under his bum, and do the same when it comes fastening them back up and we get a lot of smiles and babbles now

Are you changing in the dark? That's what worked for us. We'd pop the travel nappy mat on the bed, and trust that it was wee so very quick - just nappy on, nappy off.. no wiping.

We size up for the diaper she uses at night and just change it in the morning! Maybe try sizing up and you wouldn’t have to change it throughout the night…if we do have to change at night and it’s just pee then we turn a red light on (we can see but keeps baby sleepy and doesn’t wake her up as much as bright light) and I don’t talk to her because I don’t want her to become alert and wake up more and just try to do it really fast no wipes (if just pee) diaper on then back to sleep

Do u use white noise?, I wouldn’t sing during the night, do u turn on lights? If you do try a red night light

In between feeds or just do it while they’re asleep if it’s not a poo lol x

I do not change it in the middle of the night unless is poop or really full

If you’re waking to feed - I would do a half feed, change, and then feed back to sleep

My baby gets upset when she wants a feed and I’m changing her nappy instead. I tend to feed her from one breast, change her nappy then feed her from the other breast until she’s asleep. We do use Pampers Premium Protection nappies which hold a lot of wee and keep it away from baby’s skin so sometimes I can get away with not changing her overnight (unless she poos).

He hated it but some food then change then food back to sleep at least got the job done when it needed to be done. Lights off and only a calm nightlight for changing helped too.

@Gabriella thats a great idea however he does cry when I pause his feeds but ill try this still ✌🏻

@Evonne what size did u use when ur bub was 4 months? Ill check if we have that brand here.

@Katelynn thanks! We do have only nightlight on in nursery during the night. Ill try this too x

@Jen I think we were on size 2 nappies then. We didn’t go up a size overnight, just went by what baby was.

@Evonne thanks so much!
