Pacifier

Is anyone else working on taking the child off of the pacifier (I call it the mute button)? What tips besides cold turkey? My household is fighting for our life with this baby

I’m going to start with my son by the end of the year. With my daughter it was cold turkey because she was 4 🤦🏽‍♀️. But with my son I’m noticing he doesn’t really pay attention to it if he’s distracted, so I’m going to take it away while he’s playing during the day. Only let him have it on car rides, nap, bedtime, and if he’s upset or sick.

@Blair Yeah I think I’ll just give it to him when he sleeps because I tried cold turkey and today was day 3 and he had us at at 3 this morning screaming until I gave in

I'm trying to get my daughter off it as of right now we only give it to her during nap time and bed time so during the day she doesn't have it at all and I keep her busy to make sure she doesn't think about it

I’m just going to pray for us all on this journey lol I have 3 daughters and none of them did this like my son

I used it only for sleep and worked on keeping my baby with teethers and other things to put in her mouth during the day... after 2 days putting it only to sleep and taking it off once deep asleep... I completely disappeared the pacifier and kept her busy... by day #4 she would ask for it but not cry... end of the week gone

Keeping busy is giving activities, playing music, unfortunately yes tv time extended... if crying will seat an play with her etc. Need to cover the needy time with other. Needs like quality time. Also try a stuffed animal a little one and when ask for pacifier give that instead or a blanket

@Tatyana yeah I would start slow. Give it to him during his vulnerable times like when he’s sleeping and try cold turkey only during the day.

@Marley I love this idea I’ll definitely do this because mama is tired lol

My son uses it to fall asleep. We cut the tip and gave it to him 3 days ago and he doesn’t have any interest in it anymore but it takes a little longer for him to fall asleep at night. Naps are ok.

i’m on day 2 of cold turkey fully. not so bad

Look up Sucker Buster on Amazon it has amazing reviews for weaning off of boob and pacifiers. I’m going to try it when we’re ready to stop breastfeeding!
