NHS Gender reveal scan?

Hi mommas! I’m curious if how does NHS free 20th scan go about this gender reveal please? We are thinking of holding a mini party with friends☺️😊 TIA xx

They check the gender and everything else on baby make sure you tell them before hand you do not want to see the gender because sometimes they will show it if you don’t say anything

Most trusts won’t write the gender down they will just tell you the gender if you wish to know. If the baby isn’t in a good position to see the gender they won’t try to help you see by getting you to move around/ drink fizzy pop etc and then rescan as the primary function of the 20 week scan is to check the anatomy.

I don't believe they can write down the gender for you (incase you were thinking of it being a surprise for you at the party aswell) xx

Some won’t even tell you at the NHS scan, if they can’t see the gender straight away they won’t take time to check again The NHS 20 week scan is not a ‘gender scan’ it’s to check the babies health. If you want a ‘gender reveal’ scan, you can book privately from 16 weeks x

They also don’t write down the gender at all anymore x

They refused to write it down for us they said they can tell one of us, but turned out baby was in the wrong position anyway and they didn’t have time to tell us the gender. Luckily we had an early private one at 14 weeks so we already knew x

They won't write it down, it's a medical procedure to check for abnormalities, not a gender reveal scan. Some places in the country won't even tell you the sex of the baby at the scan.

Thank you all, we booked a gender reveal scan at 16th weeks xx

I live in Cornwall - in my first pregnancy 2 years ago they agreed to write it on a peice of paper and put it in an envelope (we brought one) for us and we gave it to the person who made us a reveal cake. I'm pregnant again now and hoping they will do it again 🤞 x
