Giving up the dummy!

Going to give away the dummy to the dummy fairy in the next week or so. Has anyone got any good tips or advice? Any good books I could read on the lead up to it? My little girl will be 3 in June and only has dummy at bedtime, she also has others in the cot and she will find them during the night and replace it back in as and when she wants. This is also my worry that she will go to bed ok but then freak out in the night when she can’t find one 🥴🥴🥴 She could really surprise me but I must admit, I am nervous 😬 it’s never been a problem, her speech is amazing, she knows it’s only something she has at bedtime but I just would like it gone before she turns 3!

We did elf door they left them by the door and a gift was there in the morning and dummies were gone We now have a fairy door where treats get left if the do something good or achieve something

We are putting my boys on a balloon and letting them go on his birthday and say now your a big boy u have all these new presents u dont need dummy.....hopefully wont be a rough ride as he depends on his for naps and bed

I cut the teat of our little boys dummy and ‘bot bots’ we said the cat had bitten it and it was all gone. He asked for it that night but I just said it’s all gone and he surprisingly saw the funny side of it and said ok. Has never been an issue since this was about 6 months ago! He will be 3 in June

We did cold turkey and it worked quickly

Easter Bunny took ours, my girl was a funny addict!! It was much easier than I thought. She mentioned it whilst upset a few times for the first couple of weeks but then nothing. Then she found one I misplaced and that was tantrum central but I quickly hid it and distracted her & all good again!!

my little boy had them at bedtime only but he started to want it during the day so we knew it was time for them go... so we got him to put them in a a little bag and we left them out for the dummy fairy to take and the fairy left him a new paw patrol car... he asked for it for about a week he had a couple of tantrums the first 3 nights but we touched it out and he hasn't had them since just before Christmas
