Cold sore

My partner has an active cold sore on his lip and I was just looking it up and it said it can be very bad for babies. My baby is 6 weeks old and I’m super worried because we both constantly give her kisses and I just noticed the cold sore on my partner. Has anyone dealt with this or know what to do? I have really bad anxiety in general and so I cannot stop worrying about this at all

Don’t kiss baby! I had a cold sore 2 days after I delivered my little girl and I wasn’t allowed to kiss her! It broke my heart as she was in the NICU. But every single doctor and nurse kept stressing not to kiss her or she could get super sick! It can cause bad respiratory infections in infants

My husband had a cold sore two weeks ago and was kissing baby until I noticed 🤦🏻‍♀️ and obvs told him to stop. I was super worried and anxious but when I called paediatrician they said it’s not a big deal it’s rare for babies to pick it up?? I was surprised but went with it

@Eva that’s absolutely not true. Cold sores are contagious
