Potty training!

Need advice! We have started potty training our 2yo! We are on day 3 of no pants and he is still having like 3+ accidents a day and at times is resistant to sitting on the potty, he also hasn’t full on sat on the potty by himself to poop (he has finished a poop after starting to go off the potty then being placed on the potty). He goes for pees pretty consistently though especially with reminders. Is this normal in the course of potty training or is he still not fully ready and we should try again in a few weeks?

I potty trained my daughter at 18 months old and she did the exact same thing. I would reward with candy. It took about a week before she started being more comfortable getting on the potty. I gave candy just to get her on the potty and after about 2 weeks she was fully potty trained and having no accidents.

I would keep trying. Don’t give up

Thank you! We will keep trying! We are doing the same thing…bribing with candy 🤣 but wanted to make sure we weren’t making it harder on ourselves by trying too soon

I’ve been trying with my son since 18 months. He knows how to hold it but he just doesn’t want to go on the potty. We did the no pants, rewards, etc. he’s 2 now as of two days ago and I’m gonna try again. I’m gonna do a chart and do sticker rewards and snack rewards. Good luck to you and all the other mamas in the trenches of potty training! Lol

You’re welcome!! Whatever we can do to help them if we have to bribe with candy that’s ok lol No I don’t think so just give it time.
