My daughters father hadn’t been in the picture for about two years, in August I’m trying to go with her to Guatemala to visit family but since he’s on the birth certificate, I know I have to get his permission to take her out of the country. Does anyone know how to start the process of getting full custody of her? She lives with me full time and he doesn’t help out or even ask about her.

I'm going through this exact same scenario. Court can take a long time and the dad would probably prefer to sign the passport paperwork over going to court. You can reach out to me on how I got them to cooperate. You can still go through the custody process but court won't be done by August

Get a lawyer i believe after a year no contact a parent looses all rights
