Why child refuses tasty food?

I make a delicious meal for my 1.5 y/o, hoping she would like it too. But she refuses to eat; even if she does, she takes only a maximum of 4 spoons. I've tried different foods and textures, but I don't know what's wrong or what mistake I might have made. Is she just having a poor appetite, or could it be related to health issues? Please help me what you guys did to increase appetite?

What we think is tasty might not be tasty to them. Their tastebuds are still developing, so they aren't going to like everything you feed them.

i think it’s quite normal for children that age to refuse or dislike foods as their tastebuds are still developing. my son refuses most things i make and just wants things that he knows he already likes 🤦🏻‍♀️

They don't eat to get full. They eat to stop being hungry. So a lot of times a few bites is really all they want or need. A lot of toddlers are grazers as their metabolism slows down so they don't want a full meal. It's really nothing you are doing right or wrong, it's just needing to change your mindset as a healthy toddler won't starve themself.

That’s normal. Toddlers and young kids sense of taste is stronger than ours and gets overwhelmed faster. And not everyone likes the same food so might not be tasty to your child.

One thing I find that helps with this is to always add a favorite food on their plate. When I plate up her food I will put what I made for dinner and then a favorite vegetable or fruit. This way I know she will at least eat something. Also try to serve a new thing at least 3 times before thinking they don't like it. Sometimes the texture or spices are different so they won't eat it as much but the second or third time they might love it.

My toddler barely eats anything. I swear he's surviving on no nos right now.

My daughter only ate fruit and pasta. For about a year. No matter what I did she wouldn’t want anything else. (I’d sneak veggies in the sauce) then around 2.5-3 her pallet completely changed and she eats meats vegetables and try’s everything atleast once. It’s just a faze it will get easier. What helped was telling her just one bite and if you don’t like it you don’t have to eat it. Then when she would try something she liked I’d get super excited which would make her super happy. And if she didn’t like it we’d throw that piece out and go bye bye. We made it a game and now she eats everything

@Ines fruit & pasta are good things to eat, though at least. My little boy loves pasta but won't touch fruit 😕
