breastfeeding diet with CMPA🥲

so my 8 week old has suspected CMPA. our DR gave me a rough understanding of what to cut out, but could somebody help me as I don’t fully understand, I know it’s not as easy it’s just going vegan, the doctor also said that I would need to cut out soy, does anyone know of a website or a list that can give me some advice on EXACTLY what to cut out? Does an item that says vegan mean that it is safe to eat or do I still need to check for something specific?

Hi! I had to cut out dairy and soy too. I check the ingredients list in every item to make sure I don't eat them. It's really hard, since soy is in almost everything 😅

Soy is in alot of vegan things. Most Quorn vegan things are fine as they use a mushroom protein rather than soy. I've cut dairy, soy and egg and I'm already a vegetarian so that makes things difficult. I don't avoid things that 'may contain' or soy lecithin as apparently it doesn't contain enough soy protein to provoke an allergic reaction and my LG's face has cleared in less than a week and she seems generally happier. Basically look at the ingredients for everything and the allergens are usually bold. Milk is in alot of things you wouldn't expect because of whey - things like crisps. I've found white bread often has Soy flour. Oat milk is good, oats also help breastmilk supply. It's been a week tomorrow and I'm giving it 6 weeks before I introduce soy again (as that's what I miss the most being veggie) and watch for a reaction. I'll then introduce dairy (using the dairy challenge method) and watch for a reaction, then egg last as I think that's the most likely based on what I ate before and reactions after.

How can you cut soy when you’re already cutting dairy. A lot of other things are derived from the soy lechin. Idk I dink a liter of soy every two days lol. I hate that I can’t have dairy

@Eboni Soy protein is very similar to cows milk protein and lots of children with cmpa are also allergic to soy, think it's around half. There are plenty of other milk alternatives other than soy, I switched to oat milk from soy when I started cutting dairy soy and egg as I already didn't have cow's milk. Soy lecithin is generally okay for the majority with a soy allergy as the level of protein in it is so minimal.
