Is this an gum infection?

I have a temp crown that broke off in the back and this newly developed. It’ll be a week tomorrow and I get my permanent crown Thursday but I want this cleared up first. Anyone know what it is? It’s gotten better (way less red) but the spots are throwing me off

If you don’t have any pain of smell anything from your mouth I would say no. You can also run your finger alongside that area and smell it, if it doesn’t smell rotten, then no. And it’s just your mouth. Mouths are dark and damp and warm, lots of things happening in there that look bad but are nothing

My husband thinks it's where they gave me shots to numb me, but there's a spot on the other tooth gum. idk I'm doing lots of rinses, mouth washes and black seed oil pulls and it's feeling much better than a few days ago. It had white, which was signs of healing online it said (they cut my gums) and was more red but I took ibuprofen to reduce swell and now it's this. Idk it's still slightly tender but for the most part it doesn't hurt much anymore.. just concerning look and a bit of a throb/tender around the gum where it was cut. I'll ask the dentist tomorrow but had to calm my nerves a bit so I posted. Thank you! @Wendi

I agree, infection would appear inflamed with red swelling or puffiness & you would still have irritation as well. If your tooth isn’t sensitive at all while crown is off, you should be alright until your next appt. But hopefully that clears up by then.

There's a root canal underneath that was recently cleaned of cavities if that makes a difference

Well usually when your tooth has been root canal treated, that nerve is dead so there shouldn’t be any sensitivity/pain related to tooth. Your gums can just have irritation present from all the work that was done.
