Learning to feed a baby as a mama who doesn’t cook.

Anyone else struggling with this? I never got into cooking. We’ve always been a frozen meal family (I know it’s not great). Now that LO is getting to an age to eat what we eat I’m really struggling to find ways to feed him. Any help, advice, comments are very appreciated. The mom guilt is real.

Frozen veggies which you can boil, with some protein I.e egg or beans and some carbs, pasta or rice are simple and easy.

I would start by batch cooking fresh food for baby once a week like little meatballs with ground meat and veggies in them so you know they’re packed with nutrients and then you can heat them up from fridge or frozen in microwave or air fryer. There’s lots of recipes out there. Then you can easily pair that with other quick things like cut up fruit, yogurt, applesauce, pasta, a quick veggie etc. Plus any food is good at any time— There’s no rule that you cant give baby eggs and yogurt at dinner time!!

Also I wouldn’t think of it as cooking 3 square meals a day for your family and baby bc that is overwhelming— Think of it as making little variety snack plates for baby. And you can slowly start incorporating fresh things into both of your meals — much easier to cook up some spinach to throw on the side of your frozen meal and add to baby’s meal than start cooking full family meals from scratch!!

Stir fry, pasta, and classic chicken, veggies, rice/noodles/potatoes were my go to when I was first married and even today. We also buy food specifically for our kids meat balls, chicken kabobs, sausages. So when we have something we know they don’t like then we heat those for them with veggies and fruit. It makes it less frustrating if they don’t eat much or easy to make more if they are extra hungry. I was getting frustrated cooking bigger dinners to have left overs for the whole family and then them picking at it (11mo and 2.5yo) that it eased the meal time tension and they ate better in the end. Always adding pickles, cheese, yogurt, etc to the sides or snacks as well.

A slow cooker is great for this. Throw a bunch of stuff in it in the morning and you have a great meal ready for dinner.
