I’m a 21 yr old first time mom who lives with her boyfriend and his family sleeping in the living room with his sister and brother-in-law. My great grandma that passed away in Jan of 2021 had a will. That will recently got sorted out and I got a huge inheritance. Enough to buy a car or house. I’ve been stuck between getting a car or going to college (I find out how much financial aid I receive next month). My boyfriend and I have been looking for jobs (I had one in Dec but left due to family emergency) I’m currently 3 months postpartum and a little scared to go back to work or even fully go to school again. My boyfriend’s sister and her fiancée help out a lot with our little girl. A lot of my family has been telling me I should do this, I should wait until this age, it’s not wise to do that. I get that they are trying to help but I’m a first time mom and want to figure things out on my own. All of my family is on the east coast while I’m in the Mideast. I’ve also been dealing with a lot of mental health issues and been telling my boyfriend to get a job for over a year now. He also either yells at out baby cause he gets overstimulated or sleeps. I just wish I knew how to deal with my mental health, taking care of my daughter, dealing with controlling family, looking for a job, debating on if I should go to school, and keeping peace in the house so I don’t get kicked out when there’s a 16 yr old that acts like a toddler and steals clothes and the mom doesn’t do anything about it.

thank you. He’s been applying for places but no one has gotten back to him and he’s giving up.

Since it’s been over a year and he hasn’t gotten a job, yet is already a big problem. As a parent he should’ve already had a job even if it’s part time. In my opinion, though when it comes to school DEFINITELY go if you’re mentally ready for that. Time goes by so fast and if you want to attend school definitely do that as soon as you’re ready!

Be smart with the new finances. It's easy to blow through them but you could make them last a while and set your family up. Look for what will offer you the most stability. If his family helps then maybe moving out is not the best idea. If your overworked by his family then your own place could do wonders for your mental health. If you want to go back to school make sure you have a plan for the baby. Just think things through

Is going home to your family an option
