Umm! I am planning on getting 2 newborn size Huggies Little Snugglers packs before the birth of baby and then getting more seeing the fit and size of the baby. Does that make sense?
Or should I purchase more?
Little help related to how to select affordable diapers is appreciated. From where to buy?
Thanks!

That sounds like a good place to start! If you have a really big baby they may not even fit newborn
Costco has the cheapest diapers, but if you don't have access to one Walmart and no frills aren't bad. If you collect optimum points no frills will have deals where you spend 50 dollars on baby items (Including diapers) and get 10000 points, so that's usually when I stock up.

Amazon subscribe and save is what we use you can change the size/frequency of delivery and it makes them cheaper than our local Walmart (the more you subscribe to the more you save) so we also subscribe for wipes. She’s almost 6 months now and we get them every 2 months.
Thanks!! Which diapers worked for your LO?

We got a ton of Pampers coupons so we used those till we grew out of sz1

I think you should get one newborn and one size 1 pack. Some babies never fit newborn diapers. If you apply to huggies and pampers, they will send you samples of newborn diapers then you can just buy size 1. You and your partner can sign up for the samples so you can get a bunch. I don't think we bought newborn we just used the samples then she grew out of them. She was only 6 lbs 10 oz so she was tiny too. We may have had a pack of newborn but we didn't go through the whole thing. I donated the extras.

We use Huggies, and I found them the best. We tried pampers but they are very square and scented. We also tried hello bello and they were pretty thin, and rascal and friends is good but don’t have the indicator line. We are planning on trying Kirkland next as they are made by the same company as Huggies

Kirkland and Huggies are made by the same people? Shocked! I had no idea. We find Kirkland to be the best one that we have tried for our baby

Huggies from experience have been the best newborn wise after that we switch to rascal+friends they are cheaper and more absorbent!

I applied for a bunch of free ones through pampers and Huggies and honestly I never used them I brought size 1 to the hospital just in case and glad I did as my newborn was in size 1 right away and the hospital only had nb diapers I’d recomend holding off on purchasing diapers until after the little one is born if possible that way your money goes towards diapers that will actually get utilized

we got newborn hello bello diapers because we were on a budget and they were cheaper and we ended up using them so fast bc of how thin they are that we basically wasted our money on them

also keep in mind if your baby is small they might not even fit newborn. preemie diapers say up to 6 lbs but my boy was skinny and in them until just over 7 lbs. also pampers fit smaller than huggies if that ever comes in handy!

Kirkland diapers are great! If you don't have a membership rascals and friends (from Walmart) are comparable in price but I find they look larger when full. I think pampers has the best deals on diapers overall between their app and coupons. PC also offers lots of points events for baby products! I found Walmart was the easiest place to exchange diapers for the next size up if I didn't open a box yet. I would have both the newborn and size 1 diapers ready for baby's arrival

Yes! Start with a few and see how they feel. Once we tried pampers swaddlers, there was no going back for us. We also use Amazon subscribe and save!

yes they are both made by Kimberly-Clark, and from what I’ve seen they are very similar.
we were gifted a bunch of hello bello and I ended up selling them on marketplace cuz they were so thin and she was leaking through them

My 7lb12oz LG was in pampers newborn for maybe 5 days then into Huggies newborn because her stump hadn’t healed yet and she needed more bum room. After a week and a half or so she was in size 1s because she got too big at 8ish pounds since she was chunky lol. We are in size twos now at 11.5lbs and going to be in size threes at 14lbs at this rate

I see some don’t like Hello Bello but just came here to say they are still my favourite and the cheapest when on sale or Walmart/Amazon subscribe.
Rarely had leaks with 3 babies now.
For amounts, I had registered for 175 NB, 525 #1 and 640 #2. If you have an average sized baby those will be good numbers.

My son went through 72 diapers his first week home lol I was not expecting that I used honest company and now I use Millie moon and I LOVE them they are honestly amazing I’ve tried lots also Costco has good ones if you want even more bang for your buck I just try to stay with clean products :)

We liked using the Pampers Swaddles! We switched to the Honest brand once he was bigger but our son was 9lbs and in the newborn size for probably 2.5 months. We actually didn’t end up have enough from our baby shower and had to buy more!

@Amber Rascal and Friends has an indicator line in them now! Finally. Haha! And I agree Huggies are the ones we found to fit best with my first littles. Although I am finding Rascal and Friends a bit preferable with my youngest babe.
Definitely didn't like pampers for newborn, but as my babies got bigger I would switch between brands depending what was on sale and the bigger they got the less the brand seemed to make a difference for us anyways.

We like the honest ones but they are a bit pricey.
We used Millie moon when we lived in the United States and now we are using rascal and friends, which I swear are suuuper similar to the Millie moon ones. Millie you can get at target and rascal is from Walmart.
We HATED the Costco ones. In the only box we got, one diaper was broken (the tabs that you hold it together - one was missing) and we had 4 or 5 major blow outs too.

Different brands have different fit. We didn't live in Canada back when my son was born so couldn't make use of any samples, which I understand are common here, so we bought 3 packs of 3 different brands and then stuck to the ones we liked best. If you can't get your hands on samples you can even ask friends for a few of the brand they're using.
I'd highly recommend holding off buying stock until you're satisfied w a specific brand and size.

I live in Canada and use milli moon

We use mille moon too, you can get it at loblaws, they are great for overnight but I have found lately the elastics aren't great so as my baby starts to move a lot during the day it isn't holding up

I’ve never even heard of loblaws- I’ll have to check it out! Thanks

You may want to have a small pack of premie size too just in case baby is less than 7lbs at birth. You can always get those last minute and the hospital will have them too. Huggies are good for those too. If you don’t finish the size then you could always donate them too or return them since places like Walmart take stuff and swap it for the size you need

@Audrey Loblaws is thr parent company of Superstore, No Frills, and others. Think PC brand 😉
