Hi ladies,
Those who had an elective at Arrowe Park… did you end up having it on the date you were given or was it moved for any reason ? How many days before your original due date were you given a slot? Is there anything different I should include in my hospital bag than I would for a vaginal delivery? Thank you in advance 💖

Hey, I had an elective section at APH in 2022, so happy to answer any questions you may have! It was a 🌈 BEAUTIFUL 🌈 experience. Best I could’ve hoped for. I had mine as planned on the day I was given - had I gone into labour spontaneously before that point, it had been discussed that I would just be drawn up as an EMC to be done on the day.
Hospital bag wise - big knickers. Like literally as big as you can get. I still live in mine when I’m feeling bloated or uncomfortable nearly 2 years on! I would also recommend nighties over pjs (this wasn’t usual for me but I was SO glad I had thought on as even loose fitted waistbands were uncomfortable- for me personally at least - in the immediate aftermath. I will try and think back to what else was useful, but any q’s about the actual op or anything, happy to answer X
thank you so much. That is really helpful. I have big knickers on my list now 😂💖 x

Can I ask- how close to your due date was your section scheduled? And when did you find out the date? Thank you x
I haven’t been given a date yet but was told it’ll likely be a week before due date x
might be able to answer x

My section was amazing I’d do it all over again. Mine was done and the day I was given. One thing I didn’t pack was peppermint capsules but apparently they help with the gas pains after which for me where horrendous xx

my consultant didn’t like to do any planned sections before 39w without due cause so the way mine worked out, I was 39+1. I was given the date at 29w and I had it as planned on that date. (After 3 threatened labours at 27w, 34w & 37w - the 37w one was killer as I just wanted bab to be in my arms by then !) xx

not much between our babs- mine was Sept ‘22. X

I had two elective sections at Arrowe - one in 2020 and one September 2022 - both were just beautiful experiences and I wouldn’t change a thing. Both of mine took place in the 39th week of pregnancy.
I was told to pack peppermint tablets as they help with trapped wind which you can get from the op - didn’t need them with my first but a lifesaver for my second! x
where did you purchase the capsules from? Xx

Holland & Barrett but you can get them from supermarkets and Amazon etc! X

I was given my date at around 4 weeks before. It was as planned on the day but quite late due to 2 emergencies. Big knickers are a must definitely. X
