Hey everyone! I had a scan and been told that baby is measuring 8lbs at 40 weeks and was wondering has anyone had a 8lb baby and how was the birth experience?
Is that too big to deliver naturally? Has anyone been told that by an ultra sound but was actually inaccurate when baby arrived?
I’m worried as they said she’s literally big already and I still haven’t gone into labour

My mom was induced two weeks early with me and I was 9lbs 3oz and she delivered me naturally, with an epidural, but if your doctor isn’t worried about it then I wouldn’t either. You got this momma you can do anything you out your mind too!
that’s given me hope!! Thank youuu!! just 2 weeks ago she was measuring 6lbs 12oz now she’s grown a lot to 8lbs and I think it’s my fault for eating so much chocolate the last two weeks due to anxiety 🥺😩

From what I’ve heard once you get towards the end of your pregnancy they grow pretty much a pound a week, so definitely not you’re fault just try to relax you’re gonna get to meet you’re baby soon 🥰

My son was 9lbs 5oz when he was born. The only reason I couldn’t deliver naturally was his head was too big. One of the nurses that helped deliver said that was the biggest head she had seen at birth in her 10 years of working there lol. They predicted he was 7lb something at the 36 week scan and I had him at 38+6. It’s different for everyone as we all have different sized pelvis.

My baby was exactly 8 pounds. It’s big, but no baby is too big to not deliver vaginally.

Mine was 8lb 10, delivered naturally 😊 most of my friends babies were similar, all 8 - 9lb and the ones who had a section wasn't due to size. Good luck x

8lbs is pretty much perfect healthy baby size what midwifes say is the optimal.

That is average not big at all. I’m petite and my babies were born 5”4, 7”7 and 7”8, JUST under 8lbs. My body doesn’t carry big babies and still they are nearly 8lbs. My friend birthed a 10lbs baby! She was adamant she wanted try vaginal and she did it! Good for her 😂 it’s totally possible. Women have been doing it for centuries

My babies were 9lb 1oz and 8lb 8oz and both were delivered naturally without pain relief. U can do it ☺️

All ultrasound are inaccurate. They’re 99% of the time wrong either way weight. You’ll grow a baby your body can birth. My daughter was 8lb 2oz at 40+2. I had a wonderful homebirth using only warm water and gas and air as pain relief.

My son was 8lb 5 at 38+6 when he was delivered by c section so I don’t believe they are worried if you’re measuring 8lb at 40. I didn’t have a c section because of babies size, there were complications.
People can give birth to 10lb babies naturally and yes your babies weight might be slightly different when they’re born but it won’t be drastically different. You’re doing everything right.

say this louder at the back!

Mine was 7 pounds 7 and I had her naturally. My nephews on one side were all over ten pounds (one 11 pounds 3) and they were all natural births. But my other sister had teeny 6 pound babies and had to have sections because she couldn’t get them out. So it’s not necessarily their size!

My baby was 5 days overdue and was 8.5lbs (8lb 8oz). I had an emergency c-section, though, as I wasn’t dilating 😢
Me and my younger sister were both born 8lb3oz and delivered vaginally

That’s not too big at all!! Perfect size. Mine was 8,2 and had a lovely vaginal birth with no tears.

I was told my daughter would be nearly 10 pounds if I gave birth at 40 weeks I was induced 38+6 and gave birth at 39+1 and she wasn't anywhere near 10 pounds she was 6lbs 12.5oz so tiny she was in pre-me clothes for two weeks and then tiny baby for 2 1/2 months xx so just wanted to say growth scans aren't always accurate.

Even tho she was tiny I tore a bit and needed to be tore by doctors even more to have her come out and needed forceps. But my auntie had an 8lb baby and didn’t tore so you should be fine everyone’s different

I think around 8 is normal! My first born was 9lb 12 and my second was 11lbs! Both able to be delivered naturally x

8lb is not big at all

I had a friend who definitely had a big baby to be delivered naturally. Her baby weighed 10lbs and she is a very petite and short person. However I tend to think that as long as you and baby are safe and healthy in the end, it doesn’t matter whether you delivered naturally or had more intervention. Everyone is different and every birth experience is different but if it helps bring baby earth side happy and healthy, then it’s all worth it :)
