Did anyone else experience significant swelling in their legs following c-section which caused pain and discomfort. If so when did your legs return to normal? I am 3.5 week PP and swelling started a few days after delivery.

Mine were awful and went down was I was walking more and being more active- I kept my stockings on everyday 12 days after the section too which helped massively but about 3 weeks in total xx

I'm 4 weeks pp and mine was so bad but it went away around 2 and half weeks

Yes my legs felt like tree trunks. I feel like the swelling stopped at the top and worked its way down. Like thighs stopped swelling, then calves, ankles, and feet last. At 2weeks PP I’m back to normal. I moved around the house, elevated my legs, and drank lots of water. They told me water was good because then you pee a lot and let out all that retention

Mine took over 4 weeks to return to somewhat normal. Lots of water , walking and elevation

I swear my legs looks like massive balloons, it does eventually go down

I don’t think mine lasted that long but I definitely had bad swelling the next couple of weeks after

this is exactly how I would describe my legs. It's just gone on a long time that it's really starting to get to me. Will definitely start elevating more when resting (but I feel like I am mostly on my feet). I will also up the water Intake. Thanks! 🙏🏿

looool don't get me started. It was a daily battle getting them socks on

not ten weeks 😱. Sorry to hear you are having trouble even now!

Yes after my second section. If it starts to discolour go to the hospital immediately because it could be a blood clot! It happened to me despite being on injections and having the stockings!

My legs ballooned up while I was in the hospital directly after my c-section however no pain and it went away with the compression thingys they used

I had compression socks I got from insurance for when I was pregnant. After my c-section, I used them to help with the swelling.

Keep feet up and a fan on them if possible. Swelling should go down. I had it and was on blood thinners for 6 weeks. X

Do you have a health visitor or midwife coming out to see you?
If they are still swollen at 3/4wks pp I'd get checked. Are you taking the blood thinning injections?
I'm overweight, (bottom heavy) prone to swelling in heat, flying etc and my legs went huge after my c section and couldn't get the stockings back on after a shower a day or so later.... that said they went back to normal by end of 1st week.
Wall/move but Keep feet up when sat down, stay hydrated.

I have a health visitor appointment in a couple weeks, but I have raised with GP and will go beck next week if the swelling is not gone. It has improved but still not back to normal.

It is rare but a risk factor for C-sections is thrombosis. They put me on blood thinning meds for this. However swollen legs/feed are common as well so it's not necessarily an emergency. If your legs are red and painful that's when you need to worry.
I was given like 3 blood pressure meds after and I am positive one of them was causing my swollen feet because it went away as soon as I stopped taking it.
