Can anyone shed light on when the midwife will do an internal exam to see what my cervix is doing? Will this likely be 38 weeks or later..

Mine offer a sweep at 38 weeks this time but when I had my last baby in 2022 it wasn’t offered until 40 weeks so depends on the midwife x

It depends on area, my community midwife said they’re not allowed to do internal exams until 39 weeks. But obviously the hospital are if you have any concerns x

Two years ago unless you specifically needed to try to induce labour for a medical reason they wouldn’t offer a vaginal exam plus a stretch and sweep until due date. There’s no need to check your cervix until you go into labour/ need to induce labour x

My midwife didn’t, maybe if I’d have asked she would idk but it didn’t seem like a standard thing they do at appointments and they wouldn’t book a sweep until after due date either

My midwife offered to do a sweep at my next appt at 39weeks, I declined but she said she'd check my cervix anyway if I want and can do a sweep if I change my mind (I really don't want any interventions if I can get away with it, despite them all keep offering inductions and sections etc as although I have risk factors I currently have no active medical reason why it's needed for me or the bub 😊). I think it depends on your area and your midwife tbh.

My midwife offered at 40
Weeks and we did it 3 times, once every few days.

39 weeks sweeps are offered where I am xx

I don't think I was offered it until 40 weeks with my son, but at my 36 week appointment, the midwife said they could do it at my 38 week appointment if I want to. That's next week, I'm tempted to agree to it
