Hi ladies
I’m a bit confused, 20 week scan my sonographer said I have a low placenta but not to worry about it, he said it’s not over my cervix and we’ll just re scan in 3 months. My notes say “placenta, low, normal” and I didn’t get any advice such as no exercise or sex or anything so not sure what to do?

Why do you need to do anything? It’s nothing to worry about
Well just because I’ve read about low lying placentas and other women had advice as to things to avoid and I don’t seem to have? Just wondered if I should have been given some advice or something
thank you so much for taking the time to provide that super helpful answer! It’s put my mind at ease and makes a lot of sense, great explanation re placenta being like a pin! Will give my midwife a call tomorrow

I had full placenta previa (completely covering my cervix) most my pregnancy and I was told to avoid sex, exercise etc but it’s only a worry if it’s actually covering your cervix I believe. They also say to get checked out immediately if you have any bleeding. Sorry if I came across abrupt then I was genuinely wondering what you were asking

I found out 28 weeks half of mine is low and other half anterior and is covering part of my cervix. I had a bit of bleeding and reduced movements hence the scan but they gave me no cautions just said they will re scan me 32 weeks to see if it moved x

Even if your placenta was covering your cervix the advice to go on pelvic rest isn't evidence based, especially if your asymptomatic. It's very very very likely your placenta will be far enough away for a vaginal delivery when thr time comes. It's nice your tech or doctor didn't scare you after the scan, mine did lol. I had complete placenta previa and my placenta was up and out of the way by 28 weeks! Try not to worry and enjoy your pregnancy!

I had one with my last pregnancy, I had bleed at 8 weeks pregnant and they couldn’t find a reason for it. At my 12 week scan they confirmed low lying placenta, it kept on getting lower and at its lowest point it was 1mm from covering my cervix, I wasn’t told anything about it either apart from that they’d re scan me later on, when they did, at 26 weeks it had moved a huge 8cm upwards so it was no longer low… however I had several bleeds throughout (mainly after being intimate) and they said it was due to the placenta! But still didn’t say to avoid sex or anything, we worked it out between ourselves that different positions worked better for us and didn’t make me bleed

Hello, ladies. So glad I had a positive 20 week scan and baby girl is well 💖💕🩷 However, my placenta is located low back and over the cervix. Xx
