Hi all, I’ve noticed my LB holds his left arm back, kind of twists it behind him. He’s only four months and initially I dismissed it as slowly gaining control over his mobility and learning to roll but he has been rolling for almost a month now and it still hasn’t resolved. His health visitor said it’s just a habit, but I’m growing concerned. He seems to prefer being on his side, usually his left, and that’s also the side he is confidently rolling on, but I’m not convinced that this is just a habit?! I’m calling his gp tomorrow as I’m very worried. Has anyone else experienced this?

My March baby does the same, with her left hand! There is a reflex babies develop around 3-6 months that is known as the ‘swimming or superman reflex’. This involves them holding their arms back/up during tummy time or when being held upright. It’s their funny little way of balancing it is normal for this age and they tend to grow out of it.

Yep my babe is the same but with her right

Mine does this too x

My girl does this with her right arm alot x

We have physio for unrelated things, but we were told that when sitting then in you like in the photo, it's good to hold their arms so that their hands are in front of them (like so they can hold their hands together) so they get used to having hands 😂
