Baby Wipes / Wool

Anyone still wiping babies bottom with cotton wool and water?
If so, when you planning to switch to wipes?
If you're using wipes already, when did you start?

We switched to wipes this week at 8 weeks but she's had a terrible nappy rash (Huggies brand) so we've gone back to cotton wool but might try a different brand? Following to see if anyone has suggestions

from experience, huggies wipes are the worst on the market, I found them very thin and they would irritate my babies skin too! I've personally never used cotton wool and water, I use water wipes but usually Aldi or Tescos own versions, they are brilliant and reasonably priced. I will get pampers aqua wipes too when they are on a decent offer as they are quite pricey when not on offer, none of these irritate the babies skin as they are 99% water. Never purchased the original water wipes as I would need to take out a second mortgage to fund them🤣 x

Water wipes- started using day 1 - took to hospital noone said anything, no bad reaction on LO - used cotton wool and water at home for a couple of days but gave up as soon as she started doing multiple nappies a day as didn't seem very practical

I’m using these ones with water https://amzn.eu/d/0ezCxrbo and then just chuck them in the wash. They are great. And when we are out waterwipes. X

I have been using water wipes from about 4 weeks. They seem to work well with babies skin. They are expensive which is the only downside x

I use water wipes and have been doing from day 1. My little girl is almost 10 weeks and never had any issues. I will occasionally use cotton wool, mainly in the mornings when I’m giving her a wash anyway. I haven’t tried any other brands as can usually buy a bulk load of water wipes for a reasonable price on Amazon and have been advised by a few friends that with the cheaper brands they’re a pain as you always end up pulling more than one out of the pack which would drive me mad

We were using water wipes + cotton wool interchangeably since day 1 but noticed water wipes was starting to give her a bit of a rash so we changed to cotton wool at 3 weeks old and only use wipes when out

I switched to wipes after a week and my LG has been fine with them. I use pampers new baby and Aldi wipes and she’s been fine with both xx

Avatar

We’ve used pampers, Tesco and Aldi water wipes since birth with no issues x

Used Aldi water wipes from day 1. No nappy rash so all good.

Avatar

we’ve used Fred & Flo, water wipes and pampers and all of those have been amazing for our little boy. Heard so many bad things about Huggies so never tried theirs before x

Avatar

We’ve been using a mix of water wipes and cotton wool since birth. I used the Aldi sensitive wipes with my first but recently found out they have a chemical in them that should actually be cleaned off (phenoxyethanol) so we’ve switched to the Sainsbury’s version of water wipes which are much cheaper.

Avatar

I went straight to Huggies wipes as they’re 99% water x

Avatar

the sensitive ones have it, the more expensive aqua wipes are dupes of water wipes and I think they’re ok!

Wipes since day one - a mix of pampers, water wipes, Aldi and Tesco. No issues x

I switched to wipes at 4 weeks. I’ve used Huggies pure for both my son and daughter and never had any issues 🤷‍♀️ every bub is different xx

Avatar

Water wipes we’ve used since day 1 for both. LB never had nappy rash and so far so good with LG

Avatar

oh no!x

For poos at home we still use cotton wool and water but if she’s only urinated or pooed whilst we are out then we use Huggies pure, started using wipes when she was 3-4weeks old.

Avatar

Sometimes I started using wipes probably week 2 but only at night as I couldn't get up to get water for the night time explosions....had to try a bunch and only water wipes don't give her nappy rash so have continued using them at night and out and about. When at home of she poos I just wash her.

We used Aldi wipes and noticed they were so harsh on her skin she got really bad nappy rash. We had to go to the doctors for creams. Since it cleared up we’ve been using water wipes and she’s been fine. They are expensive but worth it so she doesn’t get sore again.

Used aldis and asdas sensitive wipes since day one and had no nappy rashes and my bubs has sensitive skin

We use cotton wool and water and then the little ones (Sainsbury's) water wipes. X

Hour night wakes and 5am get up

Can anyone shed some light as to why on earth my child doesn’t want to sleep??? My eyeballs are bleeding!!

Never been a good sleeper, but the problems always changing. He’s nearly 9 months old.

Beginning of the month he dropped to 2 naps. We could put him to bed at 7pm and he’d get up for the day at 6am, with multiple wake ups every 2/3 hours.

Now we put him down at 7pm, he can do a good 4/5 hour stretch, but come 1/2am he’s up every hour then getting up for the day at 5am. This then completely messes up the day because I can’t keep him awake long enough to even get to 7pm, let alone later.

He has 2 naps, roughly about 1hr10 each but it changed based on when he wakes and trying to get him to a reasonable bed time.

What could be the reason for this? 6am is fine, but 5am is not 😩😩

Over supply of milk

I am nearly 5weeks postpartum and I have such a big over supply of BM.
Has anyone donated / sold their supply, if so where do you recommend for this?

AITA

In the uk there is an outbreak of meningitis, in a specific area mainly. My BD has family from that area and decided to go and meet up with them, I said if he does then he cannot have contact with the kids for 7-10 days after incase he picks anything up. Am I being over dramatic? I reallyyy don’t want my young kids getting anything serious

I think its fair

Me and my partner agreed to sleep in 1 day of the weekend.
He doesn't find it fair to look after both kids (my 4 year old isnt his) while i sleep so he looks after the baby while i sleep and my toddlers at his dads and ill look after both the next day.
Straightaway it was pretty unfair as i let him sleep in until he wakes up 10-12
He wakes me up when baby starts fussing because he wants milk (doesnt need it)
I cant pump as i dont supply enough.
So i get woken at 9/9:30 to feed baby then i get him sleep then theres no point sleeping in as my toddlers being dropped off.
I also find it unfair that i get both kids to sleep most night, i get my toddler to sleep everyday hes home (4/5days) and i get my baby to sleep most nights with the exception of maybe twice a month as his dad struggless then about 95% of his thru the day naps.
I have also been unwell for a few months (tumor scare) and am waiting 18 weeks to see a specialist so im obviously petrified for that, so unbelievably tired and alot of aches and pains, specifically these pounding headaches ive been having.
After i had been up til 11:30 getting both kids to sleep lastnight and my partner falling asleep at 10 then him ignoring the baby cries all morning until my toddler woke up im fed up slammed to door and rold him not to expect to sleep in unless he gets the baby to sleep the night b4.
I keep having issues with him not feeling the wet from baby being sick or weeing himself or being able to smell it do about 98% of the time hes given to me i have to clean him up n change him.
Including at night, we agreed my partner would change nappies (1 a night at 5am) while i feed (2,4,5,6:30) but every night when i get him hes pissed through and my partner gets annoyed when i wake him up n moan about it.
Then the morning after hes annoyed at how much washing there is (thats his job) and moans about how often i change myself (baby constantly shits thru and sicks on me) and baby
Honestly im just so tired all the time

Baby clothes

Just out of curiosity, why do parents love zipper onesies?

Don’t get me wrong, I tried zipper ones it’s easy to zip in and out when putting it on the first time and taking it out, but I find it difficult when changing diapers especially when baby is asleep.

I prefer those kimono style buttons where it’s easy to button or too down button with crotch snaps.

Is everyone thinking the same or different? Lol
