Baby clothes

I’ve always washed everything as you don’t know what is on them/ how long they’ve been in packaging for! Plus it makes them smell nice and feel smoother. Before my LG was born I was obsessed with opening the drawers and the washing stuff smelt lush 😂xx

Must, must, must wash them before use. Not even just for baby but for yourself and that's with everything. Towels before use, bedsheets before use, clothes etc. This is my opinion and obviously you decide for yourself, but you just never know who has touched them and how many people and what sort of process all these materials have been through.
Just remember this is your baby and you have every right to choose how you want to look after it. Listen to what they have to say but it's your choice and you are the mother.

I always did and goin to with this baby bcs my other two had super sensitive skin and I’m sure this baby will too, they get it from their momma sadly🥹

I’ve washed everything! They smell like us and home for them then, and any harsh chemicals sprayed on the fabrics to stop them creasing in transportation are washed out. Its been one of my favourite mat leave things to do 🥰

I wanna wash mine before but my family members are telling me no? Like they seem to think I shouldn’t wash them because they’re still brand new stuff but idk who’s touched them before me or how many times they’ve fallen on the ground like idk if I should or not lol!

I washed everything in preparation for the birth of my boy however I went into labour 5 weeks early and the washed clothes I had for him in my hospital bag were too big! My mother inlaw bought him tiny baby onesies and brought them to the hospital (unwashed straight from the shops). I was so worried I told the midwife that these aren't washed and if they OK for him to wear them and she said its absolutely fine and not to worry. In my opinion if you have time to wash before then that's only a good thing but don't stress too much if you can't! Xxx

In my opinion it’s an absolute must just because you had no idea where they came from… warehouses, sweaty dirty hands, who’s picked them up off of rails before you etc. Better to be safe than sorry xx

Always wash everything first. My father in law used to work in a textiles factory and he said everything just gets thrown on the floor. Plus all the people touching the clothes in shops 🤮

I washed everything, not just to make sure they were clean but also because clothes often shrink in the wash, especially cotton, so you have a better idea of how it will actually fit after a wash.

Yep should always wash, there is residue left over from the manufacturing process, they're not washed at any stage in the factory before going in the packet!

I'm washing everything prior. I just thought it was what you did. I didn't realise it was an option not to and it would be ok! I might not worry later on with packed stuff but stuff on hangers probably will. Something nice for me to do on mat leave too! 🥰

I washed everything although later got gifted clothing and couldn't wash those...but I would have if I had the time to as well

As a newborn we washed everything so we knew exactly what detergents/chemicals are remaining on it after washing if any (hopefully none as we rinsed as many times as possible). As he got a bit older (6mths) we only washed things that weren't in a completely sealed packets. If there is any risk of a skin allergy or sensitivity to chemicals then continue to wash them even if sealed.
