Registering birth of baby
I had my baby 2 weeks ago and I still haven't filled out the birth registration paperwork.
The reason for this is that my baby's father started to become very obsessive, jealous and controlling since bub was born.
He follows me everywhere, doesn't acknowledge the baby, stares at people until they're uncomfortable and leaves the room, talks over anyone that tries to talk to me, talks over me when I'm trying to talk to others, constantly asks who I'm talking to and why when I'm on the phone, has been turning up randomly at places that I go to just to "check up" on me and see who I'm with, andhe has also started trying to get into my phone if I leave it laying around.
I have spoken to the local women's centre who are going to try and help us leave one day when he's at work.
My question is this. Is there a way to leave him off the birth registration and birth certificate? I know that legally I probably have to but due to his behaviour I don't want to have him on there as he'll use it as another excuse to control

Firstly, I'm so glad you're seeking help and getting out of such a toxic relationship. You're a very brave and strong mumma!
As for the birth documents, I'm guessing you can try and process them without he's details, or if you unsure just give birth death's and marriages a call and ask their advice, they really are super helpful.

I've made an appointment with the women's centre for their legal services. Luckily they have an appointment this afternoon so I will be asking them about it.
I was just going to fill them out without his details but I didn't want to get into trouble because I think legally that I have to provide his details
Absolutely ask as many people as you can and also take as much help and assistance as you need to get out of a horrible relationship.
As for the legal side, a quick phone call will help give you the correct information. But I would think just because he's named as the father doesn't automatically give him rights, especially in an emotionally abusive situation.
Be strong, and keep going, your very brave in standing up for your little one.
I'm more concerned about him trying to use being listed as the father in the birth certificate as another way to try and control everything. He already does the whole "I'm the baby's father so you have to do that and if you don't then this will happen"
Being the father doesn't give any guy special rights! Never let him twist that tale. And a name on paper doesn't make a father. Some guys are no better than a glorified sperm donor!! A name on paper means nothing in the grand scheme of things. It is just more pointless words from his mouth.
Any guy can be a father. It takes a great guy to be a daddy. Just remember that. Your little one deserves the absolute best!! They already have an amazing mum!
