Hi Moms! I need some advice. My partner has a really loud snore which he believes comes from his asthma. He said doctors in the past haven’t helped and they just tell him surgery is the only option. We have been together for 8 years and I haven’t had a problem sleeping through it. However, our 4 month old now does. Last night I was up with her for 2 hours because every time she fell asleep and I tried transferring her to the crib he would snore really loudly which would wake her up (her crib is in our room). Any moms experience something similar? I’m trying to convince him to go to another doctor for a second opinion but he keeps saying it’s a waste of money.

White noise to drown him out?

Does he sleep on his back? When my husband sleeps on his back his snoring is sooo much worse. He could try saline solution (doing it often throughout the day) and sleeping on side/stomach. Also those nasal strips might help too they open the nose. Unfortunately, it could also be caused from sleep apnea which in that case he would have to have a special test done to see if he has it or not. It’s important to find out what’s causing it because sleep apnea is dangerous if not treated.

My husband tried those mouth guard things (because he's very fit, healthy, not overweight, not a smoker etc so we didn't know what was causing it) and they helped quite a lot. You can find them in boots (if you're UK based) I think to try them and mold them to his jaw and if it works he could get one custom made at the dentist I believe. That would drive me mad! Hope you guys find a solution.

Honestly, my partner just slept on sofa from about 2 months until she went into her own room at 6 months 😅 but it was also me that was getting bothered by it lol. He tried the strips which worked a little but not enough

Sadly the baby will just have to learn to sleep through it. Just like you did. I played music during the day, vacuum the house, have the tv on… it’s kinda training them to sleep through everything. So they don’t wake up startled and fussy.

I'm asthmatic and my husband complains that I snore a lot.
I use nose strips, I've found they really help.
I also find I snore more when I'm laying on my back or on my right. When he snores, wake him a little and get him to roll over.
But I highly recommend nose strips.

My husband is the same, he sleeps in the spare room or downstairs. He is asthmatic and sleep apnea. He has a sleep machine and has tried all the snoring appliances but no luck

My baby is used to so much noise from my busy household. My partners snoring always woke her up as i finally got her to sleep. Luckily he only snores really bad when he is very tired. I use white noise to drown it out and she sleeps through it.

Mine wakes my girl up too and i get so mad😂 hes farted so loud and woke her too, ive had to kick him to wake him and make him turn over as i try to get her back to sleep

The Dr didn’t say anything about sleep apnoea? He might have that, which is why they recommended surgery coz the cure to apnoea is a nose surgery and in the interim while waiting for surgery they use a CPAP machine…. Hubbys close friend had it, he used the CPAP (a temporary fix) while waiting for his surgery and now him and his wife can actually sleep in the same room again after the surgery.

Dad can sleep somewhere else
