Why do car seats in the UK not have chest straps?

Seen others abroad have this. We don’t seem to have this here?

I believe uk seats legally have to be able to be undone with one hand to make it faster in an emergency

I’m pretty sure it’s because they can cause more than harm than good in an accident and to save time for yourself or emergency services to get your child out the seat

In the UK a person needs to be able to unclip the belt urgently in an emergency, it can only be in 1 motion so that is the crotch belt. They are forbidden under our regulations x There is actually some concerns they can cause neck injuries. Tbh though I’ve seen lots of people in the USA using them wrong anyway🙃x

UK and EU law is one click release for emergency services

Ahh okay thankyou all. I just feel they look so much more secure but I guess they have these regulations here for a reason
