It's hard out here but somehow wish I would have tried sooner. First night and she took 20-30 mins to fall asleep two seperate times then 5 mins when I accidentally woke her and immediately left. My partner is pissed I didn't inform him even though he slept right through it and I'm the one to usually get up with her. We're not getting along lately but am I in the wrong?

I think if you’re going to sleep train that’s a decision that should be made by both parents

Cry it out shouldn't really be used anymore. There are less stressful ways of doing it for your child.

Wrong for not telling your husband and cruel for leaving your baby to cry themselves to sleep

What happens during sleep training is that babies continue to get more and more dysregulated to the point where they become flooded and their bodies shut them down and help them fall asleep to preserve energy. They don't learn anything, it's a protective mechanism and last line of defense.

Cry it out is so outdated and is terrible for their development and feeling of safety. And not both parents being aligned on this. Bad on both points imo

I think a lot of these comments have come across really harsh and I hope you’re okay. I don’t personally agree with the cry it out method, but if you’re looking for a way to get your baby to fall asleep independently there are lots of alternative methods now days. If you google sleep training methods some methods with a more gentler approach should pop up

ty so much for your comment. Surviving. I've heard of many people having negative experiences with other moms on here which is unfortunate. To those with harsh or judgemental responses, please be respectful and lift other moms up rather than make them feel worse than they already do.

Personally my girl has been okay by herself but we had to do something similar with my going in every few hours to reassure him sometimes he’d fall asleep after the last check in and get all the cuddles when he woke up. I will say my son who I did that for had problems sleeping, my second and newest didn’t have an issue and didn’t even cry in the beginning so it depends on the baby, BUT yeah just be wary your baby might have trouble if you checked on her every few hours or just let her fully cry it out
