My sister was induced with her first baby at 38 weeks at 4pm, contractions started at 5pm, she started pushing at 9pm and baby arrived half hour later, no tears no trauma, both totally healthy 🥰

I was induced with my first and was SO nervous but it was such a good birth I didn’t expect it to be so good from horror stories I had read !!!
From my first contraction - baby arriving it was 5 hours and baby arrived healthy 💕💕

what induction did you have??

I gave birth this morning at 3am, I had a balloon at 10pm the night before since I was only 1cm dilated and they wanted to break my waters. My balloon dropped out at 2am the same night and got me to 4cm and whilst waiting for a room on labour ward to have my waters broken I started natural labour at 5pm yesterday evening and my waters broke naturally at 10pm! It was a very fast labour and I did struggle but she's here and my midwives were incredible. I would highly recommend the balloon if you are worried about anything with hormones, best of luck to you 💛

I had the pessary x

how was it being put in and that? Did you have a choice of what you wanted?

Avatar

a positive experience then! Do you have to have a catheter then with the hormone drip?

I had a pessary, which was uncomfortable going in but manageable. Was in active labour for 2 hours 7 minutes and pushing for 14 minutes only. Pessary was put in 3pm on Saturday and baby was born 1.32pm on the Sunday. I slept, walked around, and waters broke naturally. No instruments needed and it all went so quickly I ended up not having any painkillers! It was so positive - good luck, you'll be holding baby soon! x

oh wow that’s amazing!!

it’s like a tampon so not painful at all when it’s being put in. The hospital I gave birth in offer the pessary first and then the gel if the pessary doesn’t work.

I went in on Sunday to be induced. I was already 2cm (this is my 2nd baby, which might make a difference). I was planning to have the balloon but went straight to having my waters broken. We walked all around the hospital before that, then another walk and bouncing on the ball after they were broken. Contractions started within about 15 mins, although mild. They ramped up fairly quickly, and baby arrived after 5 hours. Much quicker than my first, spontaneous labour. I was quite anxious about being induced but for me it was a really positive experience

I was induced last week, it was a bit of a lengthy process but the hospital staff were amazing and made sure I was happy and comfortable! Just make sure to let them know how you are feeling and what you need to make you feel comfortable. They are more than accommodating. I had such a positive experience being induced and delivering my little boy. Good luck and enjoy the process you have nothing to worry about ! They have your best interests at heart :)

My baby is 9 days old. I also have a 4 year old, & gave birth to a baby at 20 weeks last year. I’ve had 3 inductions- all very positive, even despite circumstances.

This time round I had the pessary inserted - I was 1-2cm already, but my cervix was still quite high. It was inserted at 4pm, I started with back to back contractions straight away so it was removed at 6pm, to give my body chance to catch up. it did the job & dilated me more, so they could break my waters. Was moved to the labour ward at 8pm.
They never got chance to break my waters as they went by themselves at 9:30pm. Baby was born at 11:19pm. So just over 7 hours from induction to birth, with only 30 minutes of pushing & only gas & air. Baby was 9lb2oz & I had a grade 2 tear (which is healing nicely & now have no pain with). I was home by 2pm the next day, only 24hrs in hospital.

Help

I was getting pretty painful period cramps and during those, I had painful lower back cramps. I had these on and off for like a few hours so from about 10:30pm to 1am?

I’ve had no show, or anything like that.

Is this braxton hicks or early labour pains?

Labour??

I’ve had on/off mild period cramps since 9 last night, very irregular and very mild, but I just had one that woke me up. My waters haven’t gone and nor has my mucous plug… but could this be a sign that it’s close?! I’m 40+3 and desperate to meet her!

Early waters/pre term labour?

I can’t get checked until later today unfortunately. I can’t tell if I’m leaking/starting early. I definitely think I’m having braxton hicks yesterday and today.. i have some pain in my back but she is quite low down so hoping it’s just pressure, baby was a little quieter yesterday but she’s back to more normal movements today, but my underwear just seems to get so wet, especially after going to the bathroom. And I honestly can’t work out the smell, I’m pretty sure it’s just discharge/urine leaking but there’s that worry in my mind a little. Are there any other ways to know/check if it could be the start of it all?
