Hi all,
Is anyone else suffering with recurring thrush in their pregnancy? I’ve been treated twice now with pessarys and it doesn’t seem to fully go.
It’s actually getting painful now from the itching where I’m making the skin down there bleed. Not to mention that she looks angry and red 🙈

Have you tried the strongest pessery ? I think it’s the 500mg one, I didn’t get prescribed it just went to the pharmacy myself as I wanted the strongest one xx

I have had this about 6 times during my pregnancy, the last time I ended up being prescribed a 7 day course of pessaries from my midwife because it would go for about a week and then come straight back again!
Apparently in pregnancy there is absolutely no reason for it, you’re either prone to it or you’re not and I was one of the unlucky ones!
Speak to your midwife and ask if you can have a longer prescription of strong pessaries - all of the natural remedies won’t touch it properly because of your hormone levels and also not worth the risk of potentially passing on to baby at birth!

you’re entitled to your opinion, I’m just following what my 2 doctors and midwives have told me in respect of keeping my baby safe 😊

I think the point of this app is to share experiences and opinions to help other people, which we have both done, and not to argue about who is right and wrong as neither of us are medical professionals (unless thats incorrect for you?).
It’s about sharing what has worked for one person to see if it works for another.
That’s fantastic all of those things worked for you, but unfortunately it didn’t for me - I take and have taken pre/probiotics for years, I exercise, I wear the right underwear etc and have never had thrush issues before, but unfortunately due to high levels of oestrogen (confirmed after testing by 2 separate doctors, one being private, because of the reoccurrences), this increased my likelihood of reoccurring thrush.
So as before, I hope that this helps the poor lady who originally posted about this to start with, as it’s not about who is right or wrong with their research or opinions, it’s about keeping the baby safe.

I’m so sorry to the original person who posted this, and I really hope that whichever route you choose, natural or medical, helps as I know how awful it can make you feel when you are trying everything that you can!
🤍🤍
Thank you for the apology.
The purpose of this post is to gain help and insight to hopefully soothe my symptoms. I don’t enjoy it when people get a bit preachy so the apology was greatly appreciated.
I do think your posts were the ones who were a little preachy and ‘I’m right you’re wrong’ personally.
Scarlett was merely saying that your approach didn’t work for her and also your comment regarding private healthcare bs NHS was quite presumptive. I’m going through private healthcare with my pregnancy and no one has suggested natural remedies. They have suggested pessarys and taking a probiotic though, as well as mentioning that this is hormones during pregnancy. I have never had thrush before I was pregnant.
I think the point is- we’re all entitled to opinions but I wasn’t asking for a discussion on natural vs medicinal remedies. I was asking for your OWN experiences of what has worked for you based on fact- not opinion. And yes research papers can show bias within them… (my professsion is in research oddly enough)
