Yes in both my pregnancies I’ve been referred to fetal medicine. They are incredible doctors and very good at their jobs. I’m not sure where you’ve been referred but I was sent to St George’s in Tooting and they were so professional, put me at ease & were amazing. Couldn’t fault them. The good news is you’re 36 weeks so if your baby was born now they would be okay, but I wouldn’t worry about it as scans can be wrong x

I had my 36 week scan on Friday and was referred due to baby's abdomen measuring smaller. I got a phone call this morning booking me in for another scan with a consultant on Monday.

I completely understand being nervous. Have you spoken to your midwife as that may help?
I had a planned midwife appointment straight after and we discussed the referral which helped

Yes I was referred after my 32 weeks scan because her femur length and estimated weight were low. It was just a more in depth scan by a doctor and I was discharged as there was nothing flagging as a worry except for her short leg bones. The next week they’d grown and now she’s on the 50th centile!

I am also with the FMU team have been for a while as baby has been measuring small they are really good and efficient to be honest, they always answer any questions and put you at ease, been seeing them every 2 weeks I’m 37 weeks now and they are planning on inducing me at week 39 and a sweep at 38 weeks, just ask as much questions as you feel you need to to help ease any nerves you have x

Thank you all, definitely put me at some ease reading all your messages. I’ve just had my follow up appointment and they want to induce me at 37 weeks (next week). I don’t want to go in for weekly scans and would rather have her out now. Feels so surreal xx

Did they rescan you at the follow up appointment?

yeah they did another scan which pretty much measured yp the same as my scan 2 days ago, her abdomen is also showing up small. She was above average on 20week scan and now below average so the concern is she isn’t getting everything she needs at the moment but blood flows are strong.
