My 4 week old is constantly unhappy. Spends all day squirming, grunting and straining (but poopong regularly and not constipated).
Exclusively breastfed but very fussy when feeding, has silent reflux, large vomit approx 3 times per week (I think as a result of over feeding for comfort). 6+ dirty nappies daily with a slight green tinge. Spots to face, chest and arms (we thought this could be baby acne though?)
Sneezes and coughs regularly and seems congested, but not ill.
We tried infant gaviscon for the reflux but made him constipated and even more upset so have stopped. Not sure what else to do but breaks my heart to see him so uncomfortable!

I’d definitely cut out dairy and see! You’d see a general improvement quickly, there’s no harm in trying if he’s ebf!

A lot of these symptoms are CMPA so could well be! Only way to know for sure is to cut dairy out of your diet and see if things improve.

thank you both! I will give it a go and see if he gets any better! X

As you're breastfeeding I'd definitely cut out dairy for a couple of weeks and see if he improves! As for the reflux, my baby got constipated on gaviscon too, so ask your GP for Omeprazole suspension. My baby has this and its great, doesn't make her constipated either 🙂

The biggest sign for us (my daughter has CMPA) was mucus in her stool, loose stools, constant discomfort crying, sneezing/stuffy nose, and a rash on her arms, upper chest, upper back, and face (can look very similar to “baby acne”)
