Does anyone know what is an iso fix car seat/ base?

I keep seeing and hearing about iso fix car seats but I have no idea what they are. I thought you just wrap the belt around the car seat in the correct order and everything is okay or have times changed since I was a Kid?

So isofix bases are instead of seat belts because they are safer. It’s basically a plastic base that attaches to your car seat (via a mechanism at the back of the seat) and then the baby’s car seat clips onto that base. You don’t have to use one but it’s highly recommended. Each base is different depending on what car seat you buy

Isofix is not safer than a belt, it's just a different installation method.

You don't have to use one, you can save your money and just seat belt fit the seat. A lot of people find isofix bases actually put too much angle on the seat and the baby ends up being chin to chest a bit too much so they end up seat belting it anyway!

Belting actually tends to score better when fitted correctly in many seats.

Isofix is a newer system made out to be so great, easy and wonderful. But personally there's no better way than Belting and then etf seats that use belts and tethers (although I wouldn't say no to a free axkid one 3 or besafe beyond except we have a high fentile child 🤣🤦‍♀️).

I've seen far more isofix seats installed incorrectly than I ever have belted ones and far more issues with isofix than belted. Let alone low weight limits because it can only handle 33kg I believe including seat and child xx

I would never bother with isofix as they limit your choice of car seats massively. Personally would stick with an infant carrier that can be belted in and then an extended rear facing seat for when they’ve outgrown the carrier. We have the Britax max safe pro which is rear facing till 36kg and really well tested (scores high in safety standards) compared to lots of generic branded seats on the market x

It’s were the car seat/base attaches to the frame of the car that is found at the bottom of the seats in your car, theres that way or just using the belt

Isofix is the 2 red buckles on the carseat that clicks onto the buckles in the car already so the car must be Isofix compatible in the first place. If it’s not, you have to use the seatbelt. Older cars don’t have it.

Leaky nappy help

What nappies are you using to stop leaks?? We use pampers ultra dry size 5, and for the past few nights he has lashed through and we’ve had to completely change him during the night. Last night he leashed through twice!! He sleeps on his front and stays leaks through at the top of his leg where the tabs connect. Didn’t know whether to size up, he has a bit of a belly on him but he’s smack in middle of weight guidance so shouldn’t need too

New born

Finally had my baby girl via C-section on the 18th, everything has been so far. But I’ve noticed she’s very fussy and cries a lot. I’ve been trying to exclusively breastfeed. The lactation consultant at the hospital said I did look like I’m making enough milk for her. She was latching on good at the hospital and now here at home, she doesn’t seem to want to latch at all. She’s been crying a lot and very fussy. I’m just wondering is she’s colic or like maybe she just doesn’t want the breast anymore?

5.30am wakeups 😫😴

My 15 week old has started waking up about 5.30am and is really hard to settle back down - it’s like he thinks it’s time to wake up for the day. He used to go to bed at 9pm and was up at 8am but now he goes to bed between 7.30-8pm as he’s knackered by then but waking up at 5.30am😴. Any advice to get him to sleep a little longer in the morning?! Even an extra hour would be lovely 🤣
